Writer recruitment wasn't my area but once we're ready to go with a revised news section we'd be happy to chat to you about a role if you're interested, Mike.

So what's happening with Media Spy News at the moment, it's literally disappeared :o I have been a part-time (un-official / un-titled) staff writer for Media Spy News over the past year, under Editor "utz" and am not sure what's happening at the moment, TBH I'm not sure whether I want to continue anymore, considering there have always been heaps of writers and new staff appointments now coming, etc...

I hope this is a stop gap measure, all the progress you guys made with TSR/News blog has been a waste of time now. I know many people who used it as a source of news, especially when Cyril was managing it, and the Twitter feed which is popular has gone silent now as well. I understand the technical issues you were having, but it'd be a shame to see it go all to waste.

Noone gets paid here, we are all part-timers with work, study and have a life outside MediaSpy.  We don't have the people to collect, write, edit, confirm and publish the news in a professional manner.  That we had some succes in the past is a credit to the people who ran it......but people burn out, get jobs, get married, travel and go back to living.  There is an old saying "If you havn't got any socks, you can pull them up".

I have repeatedly attempted to help, writing articles and contacted the team to help and never got any response. I understand what you are saying, but there has been attempts made at least on my part, and there was a long gap without an editor.

Yes, there will be archives.

Mike, as I said above, wasn't aware of any contact from you (as I wasn't in that role) but happy to have a chat about a role if you're interested. If you are, send me a PM

I'd be happy to help if and when you reinstate a dedicated news site.

Same here, I'm willing to put more time in if news returned.

The old format was unsustainable - that's why we're exploring another option.

We'll keep your interest in mind, guys.

I have repeatedly attempted to help, writing articles and contacted the team to help and never got any response. I understand what you are saying, but there has been attempts made at least on my part, and there was a long gap without an editor.

Ultimately we needed writers who were able and willing to voluntarily contribute multiple news stories on a daily basis in order to keep up with the level of output expected of a media news service.

Staffing had been an ongoing issue for years and at times output was solely reliant on the editor who also had study commitments and/or a full time job. Therefore the model just wasn't sustainable moving forward.

maybe the best way forward would be a thing called MS Daily Agenda or something similar with a list of links posted to online articles (especially with the amount of paywalls being put up, it's going to be hard to source full content).

So:

Morning Agenda published around 5am (similar to TV Tonight's published time)

Lunch Agenda around midday

Evening Agenda around 5pm

depending on time commitments and just have a paragraph explaining what the story is about, with a link?

A collation of stores from other sources (similar to the Whirlpool homepage) has already been mentioned and once we're happy with the new Media Spy homepage we'll work on introducing new things like that.

This is one of the points I was originally trying to make...
