HER sister's homecoming has been a triumph, now Dannii Minogue has signed on to make her own return to Australian television - as a celebrity judge on Channel 7's new reality show Australia's Got Talent.
Minogue told Confidential yesterday the role would bring her showbiz career "full circle" - but, more importantly, home to her family for three months.
"We know how lucky we are to be together this Christmas so it will be great to be home for this long," she said.
Having auditioned for Young Talent Time at just seven years old - "I sang Good Ship Lollypop, it was horrific" - Minogue says she'll be a supportive critic rather than a scathing one when the Idol-meets-Red Faces style show begins filming in January.
"It's more in my nature to be empathetic and I always get really nervous watching my friends perform," she said.
"I'll probably be more nervous than the contestants are."
Minogue has had to keep calm through all big sister Kylie's Melbourne concerts as she escorted friends and family to the emotional performances.
"It's one of the biggest shows I've ever seen - but everyone has been so supportive," she said.
"She comes off stage and is fine, but I go home completely exhausted, holding my breath, hoping not a little thing goes wrong."
It will be Minogue's first TV gig since leaving Home and Away in 1989. However it was Kylie's Ramsay St past that reared its head this week.
"A fan threw a T-shirt up on stage last night, which was a take on Kylie's tour T-shirts that say, 'Kylie says relax'.
"This one read, 'Char says relax' (referring to her Charlene character on Neighbours). It was hysterical - she loves it," Minogue said.

Agreed. They should've held onto Dicko and gotten him to do it. He would've been a great judge, in terms of nastiness.

Dicko probably would have been a good choice. Instead he's had his profile damaged by Seven and had to retreat back to Ten.

Agreed. I don't think she is a fantastic singer and I don't like how ever media comment she turns it into a comment about her sister Kylie however I think she will be good for the show and attract some interest.
It will be good to see someone fresh on the screens instead of the sometimes stale "celebrities" we have seen recycled way too often.

Is Dicko the Greg Evans of the new millenium? Ch 9 took him away from top-rating Perfect Match and the next two shows he hosted both flopped. His career never recovered. Where is he now?

He did have some talent, and it is a shame it was eroded in such a way following his move to Seven.
As for Greg Evans..... anyone?

I think shows like this need more class than just network personalities like Grant/Shelley hosting them.

Also who do people think the other 2 judges will be? My bet is on Molly Meldrum for sure and Todd McKenny or someone as the other judge.
