Why the hell are they using a split screen for someone sitting a metre away?? There is space on the desk for a guest. Use it.

I think they're trying to give the illusion of Warren being in a different studio. That presentation style with the split screen there is only new; they used to have Warren located in the Newsroom presenting area (horribly out-dated). I'll try and find a cap of it...

Nine News Sydney: 3pm News Update (18.4.2012):

Also includes a rather different "Special Report" promo with Peter Overton actually presenting the promo from the news set.

Why does Peter present Sydney updates from the national set and not the Sydney set?

Studio 1 isn't available until later in the day for news. It is often used for other productions until then.

*sigh* Something has to be done (despite them being WIN *shudder* stations) to increase the Adelaide and Perth's bulletin following. It's good to see that Perth have the new set and local 4.30 bulletin - positive steps forward, but Adelaide has virtually no promos and the bulletin's presentation is poor. In their defence though, the local reporting is quite good.

The gap between Seven and Nine in these cities has to get smaller otherwise there's never going to be a national win for Nine News. They don't have to overtake Seven in these cities but at least they need to not be so comprehensively defeated in the ratings.

It's just Adelaide (and on a lesser scale, Perth) seem to be a bit neglected - I am open to criticism though!!!

Nine has no control over how Win manage their news services in Perth and Adelaide. Years of poor management has left Adelaide with worse than ever ratings. They removed all of their experienced news presenters last year (Michael Smyth, Georgina McGuinness, Xavier Minneicon, Troy Gray) ,leaving Kate Collins, who is a good newsreader, but has little experience and is too young, as their lead anchor. She's be a great regional newsreader but she's not up to taking on John & Jane on 7. But Win would prefer to have a cheaper cost base & lower ratings, it would appear.

It's good to see that Perth have the new set and local 4.30 bulletin - positive steps forward,

TVW has followed suit with a local and live 16:30 effort to up the ante, if was able to be upped.

Please tell me they didn't use the slogan "Sydney's #1 News" in that 20 Second Promo for Nine News Sydney. While I won't deny that Nine News is #1 in Sydney while Seven aren't, it's a bit hypocritical having Nine complaining about Seven using "First on 7" when they're using Seven's old slogan. However, that's just my opinion and you're all entitled to your own.
