If ninemsn was to become no longer, it would be surprising (in the fact that Nine and Microsoft have a good relationship) and not surprising. At the very least I'm sure that Nine would be more than capable of running their own websites by themselves, if the network's impressive presence on social media is anything to go by.

Either way, 9news.com.au definitely works a lot better from a marketing perspective than news.ninemsn.com.au (or whatever their old URL actually was) ever did.

I guess it's the result of Nine buying out Microsoft's stake in ninemsn last year? They own it 100% now so I guess they're free to rebrand it to suit them better.

Wasn't there a press release earlier this year that said Microsoft and Nine were going separate ways?

As mentioned about a month ago, here's the short 10 Second Promo for the Hope 103.2 simulcasts of Nine News Sydney which only ever seems to air before the second last ad break of the Friday night bulletin for some strange reason:

At the close in Sydney the camera went to focus on the large plasma screen and Natalia accidentally walked in front of it before turning back.

It seems that Nine News Perth is now streaming online as of tonight. From what I can gather on Twitter, Today Perth News will also be streamed live but I'm not so sure about the local Afternoon News.

Either way, at least those of us who live in the Eastern States can now watch Perth's #4 news every night via the wonders of the internet! :P

Reporter Chris O'Keefe was used during the coming up section before the first break.

Also there's a different (to what's in the vault) 9news.com.au super used.

It seems Nine News is also using the hashtag #9newscomau which, for a tweet is way too long. They previously used #9NewsAt6 for their 6pm bulletins, and #9NewsAus I think

Yep, I'd also agree that the #9newscomau hashtag is just a bit too long and doesn't really work that well.

As I said on Twitter (ironically enough), I personally think that Nine and infact all networks should use localised hashtags (eg: #9NewsSyd, #9NewsMel, #9NewsQLD) to promote their local news bulletins. Works much better from a promotional/marketing perspective IMO.

#9newscomau seems quite strange to use as a hashtag IMO. I doubt the average tweeter/viewer would use #9newscomau in their tweet :P I agree that #9NewsAt6 & #9NewsAus are better hashtags.

I wonder whether that hashtag is being used for the "live feed" they have on the local pages on the website... I know you can get Twitter RSS feeds that display results with a specified hashtag.
