The main 6pm QTQ News comes out of QTQ Studio 1, there is also a fully functioning QTQ Studio 2, which does 5.30pm QTQ Gold Coast News during the week,

Gold Coast News was presented from Brisbane for about two years. You better tell them their opener is wrong if you don't think it's live from 50 Cavill.

just like Ten do with Adelaide and Perth bulletins, the Gold Coast news is 'downstreamed' (or integrated, depending on which network you're at...) by Studio 2 at QTQ.  The cameras and autocue are sent to the studio by link live (with stories sent during the day as they are ready.)

The problem with the local news though is it is almost a replica of the 6pm. Why would someone want to watch at least two lots of the 6pm News? BTW, Queensland's local bulletins resumed today.

Remember there is quite a viewer number difference between a bulletin airing at 4pm compared to 6pm. Very few people would sit at the television for a 3 hour block (4pm - 7pm) watching both.

Also of note today is the first birthday of the Nine News Springfield bureau. As usual on a Wednesday, the morning news was done from there today.

^ Do they do the local Morning News from there every Wednesday?

BTW, I didn't say they watched from 4-7, but just blocks such as 4-5, 6-6.30 and you would find the stories are similar.

In Brisbane, NINE NEWS has won 20 of the 21 weeks, putting it on track to claim the ratings year next week.

And across the combined five mainland capitals, NINE NEWS has won 19 weeks, meaning it is soon set to secure its third consecutive year as Australia’s No. 1 news service.

Darren Wick, Director of News and Current Affairs for the Nine Network, today paid thanks to viewers.

“We’re very thankful for the support of our audiences and the trust that they continue to place in Nine News. It’s a privilege to bring them the best and broadest coverage of news, sport and weather every day. Anytime news breaks, anywhere it breaks, we are and will always be committed to throwing everything that we’ve got to bring that story to our viewers first.”

Nine News presenter Peter Overton adds: "It is a privilege to be a part of the best news team in the business.

“This is a great achievement for the dozens and dozens of people involved in the day to day production of our nightly bulletin.

“Our reporters, producers, editors, chopper pilots, link operators, camera crews, graphic artists, investigations team, chiefs of staff... the list goes on. We know our viewers have a choice each night and we are humbled by their support and loyalty."

^ Well done to Nine News TCN and GTV on an incredible achievement . Peter Overton, Georgie Gardner, Deborah Knight, Peter Hitchener, Alicia Loxley and Brett McLeod should all take some of the wonderful work because without them it would be surely different.

With the resources and a quality of bulletins unmatched by any other commercial TV news service, it's a very much deserved ratings result from Nine there and I really do hope the success continues with yearly wins for Brisbane and nationally in the coming weeks. :)

To be the #1 news service in Sydney for five years in a row now is quite the achievement. Nine News has certainly come quite a long way from the dark days of the Mid-Late 2000s, that's for sure!

As for Seven News (which is off topic, I know), well until they finally give viewers the entire relaunch of the news service (rather than the gradual, minor and barely noticeable tweaks we've actually been getting over the past few years) that has been needed since about 2011 or 2012 then they deserve to stay at #2 as far as I'm concerned. To say that I'm very disappointed with Seven News both on a local and national basis in it's current form is an understatement.

According to the Neil Mitchell program on 3AW radio, Nine News are claiming they've definitely won the 6pm News for 2015.
I assume nationally?

I'm not sure if he's talking about Nine's release from a few days ago about Melbourne & Sydney? Or if in fact there's an update out today about nationally?

TJ and Hitch had a very awkward moment tonight. Tony thought he had finished with sport and switched to Pete, (and after a few awkard seconds) he reminded TJ he had one more story left!

Congrats to the 9 helicopter team being able to keep the a camera pointed at a black car with no lights on a dark highway!

The live stream was shown instead of the local 9 Brisbane News on-line - with the stream concluding at 6.12.
