I was appalled at something I heard on TEN's Late News last night. It was a story on Barbara Williams' funeral. The reporter said she overdosed on medication and "cheap champagne". I think that last bit was uncalled for. Made it sound very tacky. They should have just said "alcohol".

Overall, I do think TEN's news services are improving.

Ten's Late News is very relaxed. I don't have an issue with that. If it was the Nine or Seven 6pm news it would be questionable but on Ten Late News I think it's ok, as it's no secret that TLN is a lot more relaxed than normal news bullletins.

But I think the point nelstar was making is that should someone reporting the news be so "relaxed"? I can see his point.

There are three types of people in this world; those who can count, & those who can't.

The issue here is not the format of the bulletin - but whether it's accurate to say she actually did overdose on cheap champagne. Has that been proven?

It's a pretty trashy thing to say. Sort of thing you'd expect to hear on Today Tonight, not a serious news bulletin.

I don't disagree, but if it's true, I don't have a problem with it being used.

Exactly my point. I think saying "cheap" champagne is a judgement call, to make her look trashy. How cheap is cheap?

I understand TEN Late News is relaxed. I like the format at that time of night.

BTW, nelstar is a she. wink.gif

Haha! They probably sent their ace reporter to do what any high-earning investigative reporter does these days: look through her rubbish bin. mischievous.gif

Is it just me or are the graphics getting a little over the top?

I've noticed this week with the transport delay stories that they have been using them alot!

I always found the Perth Ten News overran 6pm a bit before anyway. Well, Seven and Nine news started before ten news finished, anyway.

I've noticed this with Melbourne news. I always miss the start of Nine news now.

No it doesn't start any later, but does sometimes now tend to go over time.

Ten News Sydney started without the intro tonight. Straight into the New Years Eve stories. Technical problems?
