I could be wrong about the Woolies uniform, but they are soon to be releasing a Woolworths Petrol uniform to replace the last of the 80's themed uniforms.

Theyve already got the new Woolworths Petrol uniforms in my area - a lighter, crappier version of the supermarket green shirts

Apparently Woolworths will be ditching its solid green uniform soon, coinciding with the launch of Woolworths Petrol's new uniform (a chequed green and white shirt). More on that story later.

Yep, you are right. Woolworths Petrol have a new uniform and Woolworths Supermarket will be having a new one soon very soon, very similar to the petrol ones.

Did you know AFL club members get a 5% discount at Coles? Pretty good for doing nothing.

I'd strongly doubt it, otherwise you'd buy a membership just to save on groceries. There's nothing in it for Coles to do it year round, this is a one off promo thing to get you to shop at Coles and associate them with football (so all St Kilda supporters will have shopped at Woolies today)

Because it isn't like any other company had the idea of an Apple as a logo before Apple Computer did.

That, and the fact Woolworths is asking for a blanket trademark that would allow it to use its 'apple' branding and logo on every imaginable product. That's what Apple is worried about, having Woolworths 'apple' logo on tech stuff.

Easy to just make an exclusion off consumer electronics IMO.
I mean Woolies don't market their own STBs, Phones, etc anyway they just sell other generic brands.
I know that they already make exclusions with their other brands (i.e Dick Smith and food products, and Tandy and leather products or any tools that have anything to do with leather/shoes).

I find App-I mean non specific fruit's sue happiness rather hysterical. I mean, the have had over a year to do something and only now they are screaming "A drongo stole my logo!"

In other news, our Self serves were upgraded today. The GUI looks like something from the 1990's. Plus it's kinda stupid to have a levitating box going over the scanner and placing itself into a bag. I suppose this will come in handy when humans gain the power of telekenisis. At least Mrs Woolworths wasn't her typical condescending self. I kinda have a feeling she's taken up a seductive tone. Suppose after her, you could ask for HER everyday rewards card.

Why does she practically yell out 'Enter your PIN' so everyone looks around to see what you're up to..

other than that, she's not too bad..

I attempted to use a self-serve checkout at Woolworths at Unley today. Went smoothly after I had figured out I had to put the items in the bag on the right of the scanner, and not the left.

This software is called WoWPOS SCO and it is software designed by Woolworths itself.

The current software is the proprietory NCR software designed by the company (NCR) that manufactures the machines. WoWPOS SCO is, simply explained, the same software that the normal POS registers use, but hidden behind a customer interface. It is designed to cope in stores that have lots of Self-Serve Checkouts (more than 19).

A couple of new features for the customer include separate menus for 'Fruit + Veg', 'Nuts + Snacks' & 'Bakery'. There is also a button for 'Use New Bag'. For customers most other features remain the same except for the new interface.

This software is currently being rolled out to all stores that have Self-Serve Checkouts. New stores and refurbished stores that have Self-Serve Checkouts installed will use the software from their opening.

I used one of the new self-scan interfaces today for the first time, and annoyingly, the operator had to come over and keep logging back in because apparently, the system now only recognises the weight of the Woolworths green bags when you press 'Use Own Bag', and no other type of bag.

I've only lived in Melbourne but i think that the removal of the Safway brand is such a disgrace.
The Woolworths name has no history or connection to Melbourne or Victoria; However Safeway does
