I see tonight is the first night of "View Point w/ Laurie Wilson" featuring an interview with Bob Carr. I hope once Parliament is back it has live relevant interviews/reports like 7:30 Report and Agenda.

What channel is this one if you have a Standard Definition set top box? Or is it unavailable

They should repeat it later that night on 601.

Yeah instead of ACA or Sportsline (there is already WAY to much sport news on sky just in the "news now" bulletins)

I,m in Perth and I can get A Pac,I watched the Inauguration for a bit on it,was not bad, though the US version had phone numbers up, could read two of them but the others one was blotted out by the ticker screen and the constant telling me that I was watching it,bit of a pain.
Would have liked to give them my two bobs worth

Agree, both SNBC & A-PAC could (& should have) just be an renaming of the business & parliament Sky News Active channel & just make the A-PAC channel available on the Sky News website.

I'm not a fan of APAC, but I think SNBC isn't actually that bad. Sure, its not as well resourced as CNBC or Bloomberg, but I think it's doing alright. I'd rather it was more a joint venture with someone else, perhaps News Ltd, which would free up some more resources for ch 601.

Agree. The name and logo needs some work too, its too confusing with it called different things all the time. Business Channel, Sky news Business Channel, Sky Business. I mean really... they aren't good at naming things. Sky Business would of been fine. But it certainly seems to have hurt 601 with it sliding a bit in quality since it began.

So is Viewpoint this nightly program they promised us? because they have been showing the same interview with Bob Carr for a week now.

They should repeat Agenda at maybe 6:30 eastern.

Yes, "Sky Business" would of been fine. "Sky News Business Channel" is a mouthful, and I think having the word "Channel" in its name is a bit redundant. Obviously, it is a channel.

Can I say that it has been absolutely fantastic to switch on 607 this week and last, and be able to watch all day the House of Reps, the Senate and the Senate Committee hearings. They also select the most relevant house to broadcast at the time - eg they obviously switched from Reps to the Senate once the Nation Building Act went through to the Senate for debate. I think it's a really handy channel, and I don't mind the facelessness of it.

How good is A-PAC?
"vested interest packaged as philanthropy"

Certainly we do need something like C-Span here – on at least one channel. It’s great this channel will carry some of the C-SPAN material direct from the USA. It’s reasonable this particular event was covered too. Why not?

But more generally, what hope is there that the new channel will deliver more real diversity of viewpoints? It’s run by the Australian News Channel which owns and operates Sky News. In other words, it represents yet more media consolidation. It’s not a counter-balance to the News Corp Empire. It’s more of the Empire. Not good enough, Mr Rudd! No complaints from you Mr Turnbull, I presume? Why not?

Interesting responses to the blog post as well..I don't know if I buy whether or not it's pushing Rupert Murdoch's agenda; the proof is in the pudding.

The online streams of A-PAC are now available on the website - there's a 256kb/s & below (around 180/190kb/s) stream & a 1mb/s (around 980/990kb/s) stream.

On A-PAC, you are not missing anything. It is shoddily put together and the unnecessary ticker/weather/time and massive logo make it unwatchable especially with the way the ticker is designed which can make you get a bit queasy.
