Yes, 23.1 is lower than 23.4 and 33.2, so that would put Nine third.

Seems Saturday is the only day of the week Ten really has to fix. Next week is going to be interesting...

Some solid figures for the news, city of Melbourne special and Life on Mars, considering it didnt start until about 10.40

Riight, because the weekly thrashing came solely down to the tennis finals. It had nothing to do with Ten's big franchises bursting at the seams attempting to cover the programming holes with extended 'shake em for all they got' episodes.

AFL will provide them with solid shares in most cities... maybe not Sydney though.

Huge figures for the second half of Seven News Melbourne last night, particularly for a saturday night and for something that wasnt programmed... people would have only known it to be on by switching on to it.

Given that yesterdays bushfires have killed 25 people/hottest day in Melb on record I reckon there would be a huge viewership

a little warning, for the want of a better word for it, for the ratings posters - in a few hours time I will post a thread that you will need to look at closely. That's all I will say at this moment, because I am upgrading my computer in 40+ degree heat (stupid me)....

thanks for your help and I'm sure you'll like what you see at around 1pm ADST. wink.gif

Granted we know that now... However yesterday we didnt really know or appreciate the gravity of the situation... I mean Channel Nine didn't even realise it until 9pm last night.

Well the fact that Seven started the week with a 46.6% share is a huge advantage and won't happen again this week. But hey, they pay for the tennis and what a great way to start the year.

TBL has the same amount of episodes this year as last and Dance had one extra episode... how is that shakeing em for all they got? The fact that Ten came second any week of the year is huge for them after the shocking year that was 2008.

I have to say I was disappointed in the 10News coverage, I think when big events like this happen they really MUST go to a state based News service like everyone else, sure they covered the Melb's hottest day on record, but by the end it was very Sydney centric and spent more time talking about Sydney's weather than anywhere else.

9 News spent the better part of the first 10 minutes covering things, I didn't catch any of 7News unfortuanetly to see what they were doing. 3AW seemed to give the best coverage and treated the story as a major happening which it was, sure it probably had a bit to do with them having to vacate their live broadcast from the new IGA store in YarraGlen which may have since burnt down but I found myself switching on AW for the rest of the night, the news updates were wall to wall fire, no sport or anything else same with the callers, it was all fire related.

I think yesterday could've been a good chance for one of the Melbourne network news services to go wall to wall with it, but it just seemed to be treated as a minor thing that happens everyday frown.gif

Cuz I don't get Seven in the loungeroom I didn't see their hourlong coverage unfortunately, but I certainly made a point to watch Nine's as the heat and wind yesterday was unbeleivable so you knew there were gonna be some disasters come out of it.

I've been starting to think that 10 should extend their Weeknight Bulletin to Saturday and put ST at 6.30 - Saturday is maltreated by all news services really.

Neil Mitchell on 3AW has just announced there will be a joint broadcast/appeal - all networks will broadcast this but he didn't mention when it would be.
