I'm pretty sure that the coverage is produced by the ABC, as they are the only station in Perth with OB vans at all. Ten/ONE usually send a truck from over east for the AFL, so that would explain why those games are in HD. AFAIK, the whole thing is produced by ABC staff, so ONE use the ABC's cameramen, cameras and other equipment. The only difference is the men in front of the camera and behind the mic. Doesn't explain why the graphics are crap, even the ABC themselves did a better job, even though they barely changed! ONE control when it goes to air, and that's it as far as I'm aware.

I should point out that pretty much everybody uses the ABC's OB trucks in Perth, and that they have an HD truck in operation (I think, Fox Sports have shown quite a bit of HD material from Perth lately, and I'm going by a contact of mine).

Doesn't explain how ONE or TEN have simply ignored the day sessions, that has really peeved me off. I mean, NFL over live tennis? It may've been a big game, but it was already on Foxtel, and they could've easily replayed it later on in the day.

Tennis and FTA television just don't get along it seems...

I don't think the ABC produces the coverage in the sense of the word. One would have an executive producer that oversees the coverage and they would "hire" the OB equipment from ABC Resource Hire. This is just like Good News Week being filmed at ABC Studios in ultimo. The production company would hire the resources.
The camera and sound guys in the background of the coverage are wearing Ten t-shirts.

I read somewhere that the HD equipment used by foxtel in Perth is from Gearhouse. This is new equipment as it previously was nnot there and as you stated Ten would get the global truck from over east for AFL games in HD.

Ah, i see. I stand corrected. I made the assumption that ABC staff were behind the coverage as the camera angles and shots looked very identical, if not exactly the same as the ABC coverage.

Do Gearhouse have an HD OB truck based in Perth is it driven in from over east?

Not too sure but Fox Sports have had more and more of Perth content in HD (A-league and Domestic Cricket). I read on another forum that Gearhouse may have a new permanent HD truck over in Perth.

I think One need up their production of native HD sports. They only do the AFL. They should have done tennis, basketball and ironman in HD. Too many networks take the soft, lazy and cheap options when it comes to regular sport production - they only do the big events well.

But in saying all that Seven are prodcuing the Aus Open in HD but are not airing it in HD and Nine do the same thing with the cricket. A travesty.

Based on your location, you get SC Ten - SC have 7Two feeds for Tasmania and Darwin, so it is just something has accidentally slipped through to the One HD feed, and while it's rare, isn't absolutely unexpected.

New commentary team on ONE for the NBL. Lachy Reid doing Play by Play and Tony Ronaldson with analysis. First time I have seen a game (apart from NZ games)without Steve Carfino calling the action. Not that I watch all the game. Just interested in the coverage.

If this week has told them anything, it's that they can get credible ratings with live, relatively mainstream sport. Shame the tennis was also broadcast on the main channel, they might have got a 4% share for the week if it was exclusive to One. And 10 wouldn't have tanked so badly.

Think Lachy should stick to court announcing (he normally is the Wildcat Court Announcer, one of the better ones in the league), he gets over excited about everything. Although having said that a lot of commentators do get to OTT too easily.

According to the Foxtel online guide, the two NBC matches will be replayed on ESPN tonight. The Philadelphia-Green Bay clash, as you correctly point out, will be exclusive to One, with no replays on Fox Sports even though it is a Fox game.

Fox Sports here in Aus no longer have any play offs or Superbowl. They only have NFC regualr season games.

AFC/NFC games on One and ESPN. Playoffs and superbowl shared on One and ESPN.

Even though the Superbowl will be on FOX in the US - in Aus it will only be on ONE and ESPN.

In other news... Ten fucked up the Ironman again today going off air for 15mins for some reason.

Who won the IronMan series? OneHD.com.au is hopeless, absolutely no coverage of the men's or women's series.

EDIT: Thanks to Twitter, Shannon Eckstein took out the men's and Courtney Hancock took out the women's.

Steve was probably taking a break, Lachy is a decent commentator and good fill in.

According to their website, they currently have 1 HD truck in operation (OB 2), with HD OB 1 listed as arriving soon, maybe that's the one and they haven't got around to updating their website yet?

Link: http://www.gearhouse...side-broadcast/

Are they any other OB truck companies in Australia besides Global? I've always thought that with the amount of stuff that Fox Sports do in Perth that they should consider getting a truck themselves? Cost shouldn't be too much of an issue, they are making a fair bit of it.
