No. Just upscaled from the SD we saw this afternoon.

Same with the replay on 7mate.

Will have to wait for the blu ray release for HD.

"Channel 7 will be broadcasting the Grand Final live in standard definition while its HD channel (7Mate) is showing a double episode of the TV show VIP."

"The NRL Grand Final is being shown live in SD on Channel 9. At the same time, Channel 9’s HD channel (GEM) is showing The Admirable Crichton, which was the third most popular film at the box office in 1957."

The HD situation on the FTA channels in this country is appalling, embarrassing and shameful.

Its a very, very small minority that complain (I'd be taking in the less then 1% category, maybe even less then 0.1%) - thus the networks will continue to pull this sort of nonsense.

I guess their hand was forced due to Fox having live coverage. I assume the game will still air on delay at 7.30 on the main channel?

Already mentioned in "Seven Sport" thread and will be published as an article in Media Spy News, hopefully tomorrow :)

Well... Looking at the 2013 AFL Fixture (all confirmed by the AFL), it's looking pretty interesting for Seven; including lots of different new games, venues and times not usually broadcast.
With Seven Sport broadcasting Game 1,2,5 and 8; every Game 1 match (each Friday night) will be on a weekly rotating time - one week starting at 7:30pm and one week starting at 8:30pm, wonder why the AFL changed every second week back to an 8:40pm start again!?
Some matches may be on a day that traditionally has only had one match (like a Thursday), but in 2013, two Thursday's of the year will see two matches broadcast; Round 1 - one at Twiilight and one at night, then Round 5 - two afternoon matches (Anzac Day and the first-ever New Zealand match).
Also, Seven will be broadcasting numerous games from Siminds Stadium in Geekong - mainly at the new time for that venue being at night - 7:30pm. They will broadcast one Monday night match, two Monday Aternoon matches and three Thursday night matches. The other Monday night match and possibly one Thursday night match will go to Fox Footy. One of the athursday matches is Seven's Anzac Day broadcast starting from Midday and the match will start at probably 2:30pm. This means that Fox Footy will be broadcasting the historic first AFL International Match in New Zealand between Sydney and St. Kilda at Westpac Stadium. Finally, just before mid-season, there will be three rounds of bye's for different clubs. This means, that Seven and Fox Footy may have more or less broadcasts respectively during those weeks.
>Plus, new commentary team members including Samantha "Sam" Lane an Mark Stevens should add extra opinion and style!

So, lets get set for the 2013 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, free-to-air on the Premiership Network - Seven :)

AFL promos airing in NSW and QLD feature both the 7 and 7mate logos ... perhaps 7 has decided to schedule some of the local teams' games live on the primary channel?

Seven may be regretting not buying the NAB Cup rights ... this Friday night's triple header featuring Essendon, Collingwood and Western Bulldogs would have attracted a massive audience!

Ratings have always been woeful for NAB Cup, its not worth Seven to buy the rights when it would only rate well in one market.

Foxtel attracted some good ratings during last years NAB Cup. It's good for Pay TV

There's only one team worth watching, and they don't have black on their jumpers! (OK I'm biased and a paid up member but still.....)

Apparently
http://www.perthnow....l-1226587981918

"New rules permitted Channel 7 to show games live on their two digital channels on Friday nights, so long as they also broadcast the blockbusters on their main channel at 8.30pm.

But the station refused to televise the matches live from 5.30pm despite Communications Minister Stephen Conroy's decision to allow 13 Friday night games to be screened live into Perth."
