I was going to mention that. Sydney's version is exactly like that, with locally relevant content of course! I quite like the promo myself, although it looks a bit more impressive on a TV screen. Just out of interest, are any other cities running versions of the "Award Winning News" promos?

I think that ad is shocking. Those picture boxes look discusting. It means nothing to me. Do a "first on 7" promo and then supplement that with Chris Bath promotions. Otherwise I'd rate that effort a 1/10. Also can't seven change that Bath endcap, she is looking up in the sky (they've recycled that from previous attempts)... Not good on detail 7!

I personally think the "Award Winning News" Promo is OK (it's produced quite well IMO, although I don't think the set needs to be there), or at least the endtag is a nice change from the same sunset shot of Sydney Harbour that Seven have used in nearly every promo/news titlecard in Sydney since the 2011 relaunch. I'll try and upload the video of Sydney's "Award Winning News" promo either later tonight or sometime tomorrow so you can compare it with the Melbourne version. :)

Has anyone noticed the 30 second countdown that appears on 7mate?

Who's liking the backdrops in full? They've done with this sport and I fully like it. Except during the Bath and Tony banter, they could at least have a skyline shot rather than the homebush junk.

I do like this though and believe Chris should be standing there interacting with the reporters for the live cross rather than go back to the desk! (see widened and highlighed image here: www.facebook.com/onlychrisfornews)

Sorry picture's won't upload - am trying!

The theme music played in this clip between 2:23 and 2:31 is truely the greatest. If they used that as an intro for breaking news, how could you not sit up and take notice!

A new (well, I didn't see it before tonight) promo for Seven News Sydney aired before the news tonight, and it looks like Seven are ripping off Nine's ideas again with the "If it happens in Sydney, You see it first on Seven News" slogan. I'll try and upload it either later tonight or sometime tomorrow, but in the meantime, here's some snapshots:

"Australia's No. 1" = Easy victories in Perth and Adelaide
"First on 7" = Ripoff

Seven are out of ideas. Maybe some new microphone covers?

Would it be worth keeping this blooper in (in much better video/audio quality of course!) when I edit (and later on, upload) the bulletin into a montage?

EDIT: Scratch that, here's the blooper!
