WIN cannot cope without Nine.

Because the cricket went on a bit longer WIN must've been given the episodes of Friends to show in WA, because they couldn't just take the Gem feed off Nine and delay it.

They showed the two episodes with a large, quite opaque and what's probably a 14:9 safe watermark.

They also neglected to show the captions, despite their legal obligation to do so, and despite the fact that the same episodes aired with captions just now, a few hours later, clearly from the national feed.

They've done this so many times, especially in the early days of Go! Someone really need to give them a good kick

I'm sure many here will be ecstatic with the increase of infomercials airing on GEM from next week. There will be an additional eight hours of Brand Developers airing in daytime across the week.

WIN cannot cope.

Fixed. Although it must be said since their switch to "The Hub" the quality of presentation has improved from what it was at the "Gong.

...WIN must've been given the episodes of Friends to show in WA, because they couldn't just take the Gem feed off Nine and delay it.

They also neglected to show the captions, despite their legal obligation to do so,

Taking the GEM feed from Nine and delaying it is actually what they do, however to go from a live feed back to the delayed one requires way too much jiggery-pokery for them, so they just insert the required times worth of "other program" to enable them to resynch to the required delay time.

Unless it is in prime time or is a news program there is no obligation have closed captions as yet.
And yes they would have been feed fillers should the cricket finish early which would have included said episodes of Friends. I am amazed that the episodes didn't have captions as most or all of them appear to have them and they aren't done "live" so obviously the standby feed set were different tapes.

The episodes aired again later, from 9's GEM feed with captions...

I was under the impression that if the programme had been broadcast on a primary channel in prime time with captions then when played on a multichannel captions were required?

Here's to another year of Beryl programming on GEM - nothing but ancient old sitcoms, crappy old black and white movies or similar vintage (mind you not any good ones, just OLD ones), and infomercials to the hilt.

you seem to be missing the quality that my family watches, including The Mentalist and all the CSI franchises. In fact, GEM is probably the most-watched multichannel in this house.

I think there's a big gap between daytime programming (the old movies that nana used to watch and reruns of the Golden Girls) and prime-time where there can be some good shows - even if they're good for all the wrong reasons - I was stuck on Hoarders for a while there :P Though I'm not one for The Mentalist or CSI they bore me.

Used to also like Mary Queen Of Shops that was a great show but apparently only a handful of episodes were made.

It's not high on my list of favourite multi-channels but I do find myself watching it from time to time. The movie Evil Angels was on a few weeks back, it's years since I'd seen that film, it was actually interesting to see it again - if only to see the really badly done mock TV logos used to portray the news coverage of the Azaria Chamberlain trial

Never watched GEM. Never ever. The biggest shame about it is that it is in HD.

Nine, I beg you- swap GEM and GO!'s LCNs, so I can get HD Seinfeld and Top Gear.

You're right in the Beryl demographic though, to be fair.

What happened to the Friends repeats at 10am? Don't tell me they've been taken over by a half hour Infomercial!?
