10 minutes into the game this afternoon. Sterling is good.

Not really that good. he sounds strained and does not have the "presence" needed as a play by play caller.

Nine should get John Brennan out of retirement, if he's well enough. He was good doing the old Amco Shield and as Frank Hyde's backup on 2SM thirty plus years ago. Nine has very little depth in the commentary ranks.

Sterlo wasn't bad but he did get a bit confused at times. At times he tried to be play by play and colour commentator.

He needs to pick one. He also sounded like he was being strangled at times.
Sterlo becoming a play by play caller proves Nine need to relinquish the rights. They are terrible and so are their broadcast talent.

Goes to show Nine has no suitable back-up when Ray Warren is away.

They do have Andrew Voss and Ray Hadley - but Voss is also going to the Olympics and Ray Hadley wouldn't be available Sundays as he already works 6 days a week.

Personally, I prefer FOX's NRL coverage to Nine's ...

I think Nine need a 'generational change' in their NRL commentary box..
Warren and Sterling have been there 20 years already and need to be moved on (imo).

Nine don't need generational change...they don't need the rights. Piss them off.

Voss apparently not going to Olympics...will be calling the weightlifting off a TV in Sydney. He will still be calling NRL on the Fri night double header as Warren and Hadley will be in London.

Not surprised by this really, if a FTA channel is to embrace RL then make Sunday wall to wall League like it almost will be on 9 in Queensland now (Sunday Footy Show/Roast, 1:00 Filler, Broncos show, Queensland Cup, NRL Replay).

They've done a really dodgy job of the NBN logo at the end of that promo.

Seven can bank on winning against Nine News on that night then.

Good decision to bring forward the kick offs by an hour, an 8:45 kickoff for a final is ridiculous for all concerned, even if it's on a Saturday.

ROUND 25 SCHEDULE

Manly vs Brisbane (Brookvale), Friday Night LIVE QLD, unsure NSW
Canberra vs Canterbury (Bruce), Friday Night DELAY QLD, unsure NSW
South Sydney vs Parramatta (Olympic Stadium), Sunday Delay both states

It's not that late.

Scary that Nine would agree with this, especially if they're going to broadcast the games live.

Nine would be better off with Nine News 6pm and 6:30pm/8:30pm delayed broadcast (same as they did a few years ago).
