Ten Mornings

I think Paul Henry is refreshingly good, and I'd much rather watch him than Karl or Kochie.
It usually takes a long time for viewers to change their morning TV HABITS. 10 should give it more time and persevere.

I'm not popping the champers. It just makes a change from posts screaming that Ten Breakfast keeps dropping numbers.ABC breakfast news has increased too so don't start popping that champers just yet. 10 still trailing but it's a marathon and we're only at the 5km mark. Come the finish line (November), 10 would want 100,000 pairs of eyes on its brekky offering. If that does not occur, your guess is as good as mine as to what 10's next move is.

The show's failure couldn't possibly be due to his grating personality, could it? Having sampled the show, viewers are voting with their remotes. 29K yesterday, 27K the day before. I can't see Ten giving the show much more time to improve if ratings don't start increasing soon.

Paul Henry blames an "inexperienced production team" for Breakfast's lack of success
That's a bit unfair. He's speaking about improving the quality of their output and how they work as a team, and doesn't draw a connection between the team and their ratings at all. He's absolutely right that they need practice and experience to improve the show.
The ratings do seem to be increasing, or at least seem to no longer be hitting rock-bottom lows of 22k. They even managed to hit 33k the other day. Obviously that is nowhere near an acceptable number, but it does seem to be crawling upwards. I'll be interested to see what impact - if any - the return of Late News has.

To me 33k is no different to 22k.
Anything below 50k is not acceptable at this stage… If the program is not hitting above the 50k mark, in 6 months, then yes it should be axed!

Exactly. Fluctuating between 22k and 33k nationally is not even noteworthy it's barely a blip on the radar. Unfortunately, and hindsight is a lovely thing, but Ten has entered this space far too late. They really should have done it years ago but instead ABC got in to attract the alternative crowd to Sunrise/Today and there is just no market for Ten to tap into now.To me 33k is no different to 22k.

Nothing will change in the near future. They are resistant to change at 10. In tv especially, changing something means someone at the top has made a mistake. Arrogance in tv-land means execs don't admit to failure.Watching the show again today and I'm convinced that with promotion and the dumping of Andrew and addition of a sports presenter it could be rating higher. Don't change the content as such because it's just very good. Hardly any Hollywood shit and I really like Henry's Hotline. Love being able to call into the show. And Paul is better than Kochie and Karl, one good call from Murdoch.
Change may occur at the end of ratings year. The EP will be the first one dumped. "decided to move on to another opportunity. Sad to see her go. integral part of the success (?) to date. Breakfast continues and 10 committed to it. growth strategy. blah blah."

the article mentoned 7 and 9. No mention of ABC. Not quite the elephant in the room. More like a pygmy.Paul Henry blames an "inexperienced production team" for Breakfast's lack of success and concedes the show needs a lot of promotion.
