I actually thought that second episode was better than the first. I laughed out loud quite a few times during that.

The second episode was terrible, did not laugh once. I think Lilley took on too many characters, because none of them seem anywhere near as polished, interesting or engaging as Mr G, Ja'mie or Jonah.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I'm really disappointed so far.

Yeah, didn't do anything for me. Kept on losing focus and started playing with my phone instead :P. I liked SHH somewhat, so it's nothing against Chris Lilley.

I'll bet she wasn't too impressed with that. Posted Image

Pretty sure SHE was falling asleep, so yeah, both Angry Boys and myself were doing something wrong ;)

I heard the first three episodes are mediocre but the last three are much better.

Another pretty shit episode tonight. Looks like it'll finally pick up next week though. Here's hoping. I'm not a prude at all, but I'm getting so sick of the frequent language, it's too reliant on it, unlike Summer Heights and WCBH which actually attached it into their characters well.

Has anybody else noticed how Chris Lilley seems to play females (or feminine characters...Mr G) much better than he does with males? Mr G, Ja'mie, Pat, Gran and Jen (judging from the promos) all seem superior.

Yeah, next week definitely looks like the series might be back to what it should be.

I agree with you about the language. I don't mind the swearing, but use it for a purpose. To me it shows a slight lack of imagination to just have everyone swear all the time for no reason than to swear all the time.

To be honest, I gave up after episode 2. I hardly laugh during an episode. All the elements are there but it just doesn't have the same feeling for me. It is almost like Liley tried TOO hard and has lost the essence of what made Summer Heights High and We Can Be Heroes amazing. There was something so relatable about Summer Heights High that I am just missing in Angry Boys.

I am glad it's doing well though. Well produced and well acted. Just not my thing anymore. Kinda makes me sad because I had been looking forward to this for a while. My expectations were probably too high and nothing he could do were going to live up to them.

Just watched it on iView. I don't think it's any less funny than his previous programs, it strikes me as exactly the same material, which is a problem. With the 'refreshing' and 'groundbreaking' aspects removed, all that's left is dick jokes and run-of-the-mill character comedy.

Well I am a bit disappointed so far.
I think this series won't damage Chris, but it'll tell him that maybe his time has passed.
I still get a few chuckles though.

...it strikes me as exactly the same material, which is a problem.

And that's a serious problem - he's getting well into "one trick pony" territory. I'm not sure why he finds it necessary to play so many of the characters himself; rather than connecting with some and missing the mark on others, he'd surely be better concentrating on one or two, nailing them, and getting actors in for the rest...

I think he tried to go too broad. Too many new characters. Summer Heights High had less, and it worked far better as you connected better to all the characters, and having a shared setting just made it perfect.

I found his We Can Be Heroes seriously overrated, but genuinely thought SHH was somewhat groundbreaking. But he has missed the mark this time I think.

I think I agree with most of the opinions expressed here. This season is become repetitive, the characters are one and the same, what's the point of it?

Bit of an improvement this week, the Asian mum is good. Blake is pretty boring tho.
