May as well count "global viewership" (especially since both the AFL and NRL telecasts always say at least 4 or 5 times that its been shown in over 100 countries blah blah blah) if your going to count NZ.

Such petty State Vs State rivalry, its ridiculous.
Since when was it ok to count NZ ratings figures for any other game or event to claim supposed superiority?

Warriors are part of the NRL they should be
Included in the total NrL audience (that goes for finals not involving the warriors)

Final National Figures (Metro + Regional)

2011 AFL Grand Final - 3,524,362
2011 NRL Grand Final - 3,176,892

Source? I have seen 3.4 and 3.3 respectively in the press releases.

The figures from the press releases, from adjusted figures, are AFL 3.418m (2.63 metro, 788,000 regional) and NRL 3.310m (2.16 metro, 1.15 regional). They seem to adjust it every year, dont ask me how they do that. It's amazing how close they are really.

Add in the AFLs NZ ratings then.

Don't forget the decimal point

The adjusted NRL figure is 3.310 million according to the NRL. I assume the AFL have added in the diary figures from Tas and WA regional to get to 3.5million.

oh yep..sorry... i forgot. even though the NZ warriors were playing in the game, NZ cant be included as people actually watching the game.

Its not the NRL's fault we have a team from oversea's playing in our comp.

Don't worry... AFL will never have to worry about that

The last time i checked,New Zealand wasn't part of Australia. That's why its ratings have never been and never will be counted as part of Australia's ratings.

according to your point.

Rugby union gets the most viewers as for the super 12 there is massive audience in NZ & RSA, so do you count that in the tv ratings?

The season's over guys, and this discussion is going nowhere apart from petty arguing.

R1 - NZ Warriors v Manly - Live to all markets at 12pm AEDT
Syd: 241,000 Mel: 56,000 Bris: 119,000 Adel: 10,000 Perth: 13,000

That little experiement failed in non NRL states. Don't expect anymore live nrl from Nine this season.

Wouldn't be surprised if WIN continues it for Perth/Adel... but yeah, their would be no difference in ratings even if it was delayed.

@ The Sifon
You do realise the game was on at midday in NSW/VIC, 11:30am in SA, 11am in QLD and 9am in WA.

considering there was 0 advertising for the game in melbourne, and 56k is what you get for afl games in sydney in prime time... how is this a failed experiment?

nine showed 2 games of the regular season of the NRL live in melbourne last year... both with 0 exposure.

hell, the panthers Vs storm game nine only decided with 2 days notice to show the game....

I saw an ad for both the game and the cricket that followed in primetime, it was either Friday or Saturday night, can't remember from memory
