The rugby league test between NZ and Australia attracted 914,000 last night on Nine according to Mediaweek. That's very impressive.

Yep, Sydney and Brisbane figures were impressive.
NINE'S FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL 914,000 516,000 15,000 365,000 10,000 8,000
Completely justifies the 90 minute delay. Nine would've been crazy to broadcast it live

It would have rated higher live.

True, but at the expense of Nine News, ACA and The Block.

AT this stage I think it's more to do with the teams involved: Collingwood v Hawthorn and Collingwood v Carlton.

I'd be surprised if Fremantle v St Kilda gets 700k next week.

711k according to mediaweek. Would have rated the house down in Perth.

Add to that 7mate and Fox figures and it's probably another 1 million plus audience. Unheard of before this year.

Still 271,000 viewers who no longer need to be watching Seven. Great figures for the AFL; pretty poor for Seven.

Over 1 million for the League in the metros. Add in the regionals and you're looking at a 1.5 national audience. Surely that's the highest FTA game of football so far this year.

271,000 is national numbers so you can't say how many less watched Seven when you've included regional that watch Prime.

Fair point. Still losing potential viewers I would say, but it's good to see the AFL rate so well.

711k according to mediaweek. Would have rated the house down in Perth.

The game pulled 207,000 in Perth (on 90 minute delay) and was the city's most-watched program of the night.
EDIT: again from Mediaweek:

Fri TV: #AFL #aflsaintsfreo 1.05m #Seven Mel 385k Ade 118k Per 207k #7mate Syd 23k Bri 47k #FoxFooty 271k

It's good to see the AFL competitive this year, I suppose. I can count on 1 hand the times it beat the NRL in the metros last year. Great to see the test rate extremely well. Hopefully it's here to stay for a long time. Just goes to show how valuable the NRL rights are, especially when split up.

73,000 watching rugby league test in primetime in Melbourne is pretty good figures.

73,000 watching rugby league test live in Melbourne is pretty good figures.

It wasn't live.

The QClash should do pretty well in Brisbane tonight with no NRL on... I predict it may nudge 100k on 7mate and do around 180k (national) on Fox Footy

According to MediaWeek, the AFL got 691,000 on Seven last night, just beating the encore of The Voice's first episode (665,000).

I assume this figure is for:
WCE v Haw (Melb/Perth) + Adel v GWS (Adel)

The total A.F.L figure for Seven/Seven mate is 781k,not the 691k quoted there. The 691k figure is for Melbourne,Adelaide, and Perth alone.
