Next week is probably non-elimination. The week after, teams travel to Egypt (before the civil unrest) before the final three teams return to Australia.

egypt? is that why there is no gay couple? how does the US version deal with that situation?

anyone openly gay in egypt, tourist or local, can be jailed for "moral perversion", and egypt is one of the more tolerant african countries.

Er, maybe they simply cast on the basis of who's interesting, rather than slotting in a token homosexual couple or friendship in there?

I think they will visit Sri Lanka as well before returning to Australia, just going by a promo that was on TV last week.

Glad it is getting a second shot. Hasn't set the world on fire but has done solidly. Hopefully they give it a better lead it or make it a 7:30 show starting in Feb. It is getting lost in all the reality on TV at the moment.

Feb is a good idea, leadin of MKR.

now that it will no longer be 'the first aussie race" it need a gimmick, like Miss teen south carolina, the watermelon incident, or the deaf contestant in the US version. wonder if kim duthie would be up for it?

I'm so happy they're doing a second season. This is a show that seems to have held on to an audience quite well (it has stayed around the 1.0-1.2m mark for its run so far.

Same. I think the casting has been fantastic this season. The production values have been excellent, it really is on the same level as the original.

Very pleased to hear the series has been renewed for the second season. With a quicker turnaround like the US version (there is a 2-3 month gap between the start of the race and the premiere), we should see the second season in February.

Good they're doing a second season, it mustn't cost as much as we all thought! Considering its ratings.

It hasn't been confirmed if season 2 will be an international race though. It could be downscaled to a single country version like other countries versions and some US seasons. That would make it much cheaper.

It would also result in a drop of ratings, I'd imagine. I don't think Seven really play anything 'cheap' anymore, and it's shown through in their ratings this year.
I think its ratings warrant another international season...it's consistently remained above 1 million. Not many shows achieve that anymore.

The application states a race around the world, so i'd assume it still is around the world.

It's times like these that I really dislike my sister. Why does she have to be 19! UGH

Doesn't really need explaining, but I'm sure your parents would be happy to fill you in on the details.

Great to see there will be a Second season of The Amazing Race Australia, but as a few of the comments already here have pointed out, I agree the show really needs to start in February & not at the middle of the year, I have no problems with the Monday 8.30pm timeslot, but it needs a better lead in show like My Kitchen Rules at 7.30 & the second season will properly get between 1.2 to 1.4 million viewers. Some countries I would like to see visited are the United States, Brazil, France, Denmark & Thailand & hopefully Grant Bowler will chat to the contestants at the pit stop a bit more.

Not disagreeing with the idea of starting in Feb with MKR. I like it, better lead in than the current season.

But (almost always a but), the problem with starting then will be the clash/overlap with the US version and local version if it is fastracked again on 7 or 7mate. Could create a bit of an Amazing Race overload and confusion for the non regular viewers.
