The Age brought this to my attention yesterday but this clip is some months old

real or fake? If it is a fake it's very well done.

Could be either way.
UK Countdown is full of fakes on Youtube.. only a couple real ones though.

Last I heard, which was a while ago, I think it was around the 150k-160k mark which is not bad by SBS standards and is an improvement from when it first started when it struggled to get above 80k

Monday was a repeat episode, so the figure might not be typical.

Appears to have been axed.

Leigh Sales @leighsales Is it true that SBS has cancelled Letters & Numbers??? No!!! That's my favourite show.

SBS has made a decision to rest Letters and Numbers and develop other programs so we can continue to offer new, great content to our audiences. The last episode will be transmitted on June 27. Following Tour de France, Countdown - the UK version of Letters and Numbers - will air at 5:45pm weekdays. Lilly Serna, one of the shows stars is working on a new show with SBS, Destination Flavour. SBS hopes the appetite for Letters and Numbers will be satisfied with the very popular UK series Countdown.

Surely a show that has replacing notepads as its highest cost to make a new episode should be able to survive. SBS had a good local alternative that was unique in its timeslot and delivered reasonable ratings, axed to fund more horrible travel/cooking shows?

I hope the show is rested, not completely axed. It has been airing in the 6pm weeknight slot almost continuously (new episodes then repeats) since August 2010, except during Tour de France. More than 65 series of Countdown have aired in the UK, surely Letters & Numbers can last for at least 1/3 of that (say 20 series).

Meh - I thought Letters And Numbers was too repetitive. I watched it in 2010 but quickly got sick of the same old formula every day.

Clearly not a Lily Serna fan :P

Hope it returns in the future

It often rated 3rd for SBS most nights... silly decision!

If a commercial network is smart, they'll snap them up. It's been a good little worker for SBS.

It's not really a very good show is it?

I think it's a good show although at first I thought it would be better suited to ABC rather than SBS, but I am sorry that SBS have "rested" it. It can't have been that expensive to produce (and didn't SBS just get promised a swag of additional money in the latest budget?)

... and then they decide to make yet another food show instead?? Too many food shows on SBS as it is.

Letters And Numbers is a Shine production wasn't it? Maybe they should shop it around to ABC. They could do with something decent at 6.30pm for instance as lead in to the news.
