With Nine & Foxtel having the Olympics, where does that leave SBS? Are they no longer in the picture?

Hopefully SBS still broadcast the soccer. SBS also did some track and field didn't they?

Knowing Nine, they'll not let any other FTA broadcaster have any coverage rights.

i think Seven only partnered up with SBS because they weren't prepared to be buddies with Foxtel. Now that Foxtel is in the picture, I would say SBS is out.

Hadley joins Nine!!

Nine has hired Ray Hadley. He’s going to call the sports at the London Olympics next year and he’ll anchor other key sports events in the lead-up to the Olympics, not only for Nine but for Foxtel (Nine and Foxtel jointly won the rights to the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Olympics from Seven, which had held them since 1992.)

I wonder how they'll use him? Would they use him as just a Track and Field or other sports commentator or would they have him along with Eddie as the main studio anchors?

I don't think Ray has enough of a profile outside of New South Wales to be an anchor, although granted they could use some of the lead up events to raise his profile.

Ray said on his radio program, he hasn't had any discussions with Nine or Foxtel regarding London 2012.

Uh-oh!!! Coles??? I will NOT be watching channel 9's olympic coverage next year as they'll play ads of Curtis Stone holding a $10 note around London instead of playing the Olympics.

Now that NBC has retained the US rights to the Olympic Games (by paying more), negotiations for the next Australian rights could now begin. According to The Spy Report, the IOC is considering whether the next contract should cover four Games (two Summer and two Winter).

So, the end of this month marks one year til the Games, can we expect Nine to start with the promos then?
Anyone else think Mark Nicholas might be one of the hosts?

Because they'll probably rotate 3 hosts, and we assume "The Male Model from Mudgee" and Cameron Williams will likely be 2......

A year out from the London Olympics, Nine has revealed some of the plans for it's coverage. 300 hours will be broadcast on Nine (about one third of that will be Eddie blabbering on incessantly)*. They do not plan to run any extra coverage on their digital channels although some events will be simulcast in HD on Gem. Nine will ask ACMA for temporary broadcast spectrum to run 3D coverage should it become available.

*joke, I hope.

Coles is one of the eight partners of Nine's telecast, which also include Commonwealth Bank, Qantas, Harvey Norman, Swisse Vitamins and McDonald's.

And why the hell not!? Weren't Nine the ones going on about how they'd have unprecedented coverage through their multichannels?
