Two big changes in the American TV industry: Jon Klein out at CNN, and Jeff Zucker to go from NBC Universal.

The American television industry was hit with a double dose of big news on Friday, with Jeff Zucker announcing that he would be stepping down from his post as NBC Universal's chief executive.

And Gaspin's going too...

Jeff Gaspin, the chairman of NBC Universal's television division, has become the second high-profile executive to announce his departure from the entertainment company, indicating that he will step down after the merger with Comcast takes place.

The Comcast-NBC Universal merger has been approved. It'll go ahead in the next few weeks.

The Spy Report:

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has voted to approve the merger between the cable giant Comcast and the entertainment company NBC Universal, but imposed a series of conditions on the deal in an effort to minimise adverse consequences for consumers.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the conditions relates to the online video market. I was wondering about that section when I was reading the report; The Economist has the analysis.

Comcast related you think? Or they just sick of each others BS (MSNBC&Keith)?

If he wants to return to cable news, I have no doubt CNN wouldn't mind him at 8pm. Parker Spitzer is a dud.
