Great numbers for JMC and undercover boss x factor held up well for just a results show. 9's repeat lineup didn't fool anyone

Nine led viewers to X Factor which posts one of its best results show figures.

JMC smashes it.

Sunrise pretty massive as well.

Only 1.85m for Junior MasterChef? Thats pretty average considering what media analysts were predicting prior to the series. The MasterChef franchise is losing steam by all this overexposure and I believe it'll be down to low levels within a couple of years and experience a masssive decline just like past hits like Big Brother and Australia Idol.

X Factor held up quite well and is getting a second series according to rumours, and it will grow into a bigger show in its second season, just like International versions. In the UK, X Factor started off with 5m in 2004 but for it's latest episode it got 17.7m. The same ratings trajectory will happen in Australia,.

Advertisers paid for spots during the Junior MasterChef final expecting ratings to be over 2 million (average). That was the widely anticipated rating which the final would get before the series started. It's failed to live up to the hype.

1.85m is great generally but for the MasterChef franchise it is quite average and damaging to the future of the franchise.

Interesting that you call 1.85 million "average" for JMC, but think that X Factor "held up quite well" with 1.11 million. This was not just an ordinary results show for X Factor, but the last results show before the final performance show. The ratings trajectory you're talking about has already happened here with Australian Idol. I doubt we'll ever see X Factor reach the dizzy heights of Idols peak in popularity. With very little competition next week the finale of X Factor should do very well...I wonder if it will get a higher result than JMC's "average" figures last night?

NOOOO! Thats just more Kyle and he will be on a popular show, when he deserves to be on nothing.

As I explained in my previous post, its an average rating for Junior MasterChef based on pre-series expectations. It is good generally but for the MasterChef franchise it is not amazing, indeed its just average compared to what we've witnessed in the past.

The X Factor is low compared to JMC but I stand by what I said regarding it "holding up well" because the results show was one of its highest of the season in spite of airing against the so-called much anticipated JMC finale. No, I don't expect TXF Final next week to get more viewers than JMC but I expect it to rate well compared to how the season has been doing so far and compared to other programmes on other networks

How do you know advertisers were expecting over 2 million? Junior Masterchef was never going to sustain the 2.2 million viewers it had for its premiere, as most of them were curious to see the kids cooking. Also, comparing the junior version to the real Masterchef is ridiculous. The original is played 6 nights a week and is a much bigger show than JMC. The finale of Celebrity Masterchef last year had 1,295,000 viewers watching, so I would think that Ten (and their advertisers) would be over the moon with an average figure of more than 1.8 million and a peak of 2.2 million, especially considering it was opposite Seven's most expensive show of the year in its final results show. In its peak, Idol's final results shows were getting well over 2 million.

Right.....JMC was never going to live up to the heights of the original series; spin-offs never do; celebrity masterchef didn't JMC performed well for the majority of its run; The Masterchef franchise builds as the series progresses and you get to know the contenstants they ar ein your face 6 nights a week unlike Junior Masterchef where it was on 3 nights and to be honest I'm a huge Masterchef fan love the original but am not really a big fan of the junior edition I watched Sunday and Mondays but didn't bother watching a single second of the friday show all season.

Good thing about Masterchef suffering from a ratings decline is that unlike Big Brother which was on 6 nights a week Masterchef still has a long way to fall to reach BB levels; where it will still get renewed. Its not often a show can sustain 1.6 million 6 nights a week for 14 weeks without fail.

So Junior MasterChef rated better than Celebrity MasterChef, that is one positive to come out. I suppose Ten will now renew JMC for a second season, make it even longer than this series but will viewers get bored of it? The signs are there but CJM makes good points that the TEN network have very few shows getting 1.5m+ so even if it dropped they wont mind. Oh well, that means less quality drama on network TV.

Only 1.85m for Junior MasterChef?

Last years Celebrity Masterchef only got 1.3 million for its finale - and Masterchef Season 2 went on to break Australian records.

Running out of steam? Not yet. The flagship program has more of a soapie aspect to it and is run every night with opportunity to build massive momentum (if done right). Spin offs like Celebrity and Junior do well but they expose themselves to running out of steam by default. I don't think it has any relation to how MC3 performs next year.

I didnt know that Celebrity MC flopped that badly. Bearing that in mind and taking everyone else's views into consideration, I now regard yesterday's JMC final rating as "good"
