Different style of promo for Downton Abbey.
Great use of the song. Really gives the show a contemporary feel.

There's no "apparently" about it. It is brilliant. One of the best dramas you'll see this year
I agree, but I have said it before and will say it again, I dont think channel 7 is the right place for it and I think it will struggle here

Well it did air on ITV in the UK which was a strange place for it as well and it did brilliantly. But yes, Australia is a different place. At least Seven wont have to edit the commercial breaks in since they are already there.

ITV wasn't a strange place for it to air at all. They've had plenty of period dramas in the recent and distant past (they were of course the home of the original Upstairs Downstairs). What was unusual was the high amount of 16-34 year olds tuning in which was thanks to the X Factor lead in.Well it did air on ITV in the UK which was a strange place for it as well and it did brilliantly. Those adverts from 7 are very impressive but really are totally irrelevant to the show. I never thought I'd hear music like that used for Downton Abbey!

There is also The Kennedys (4 part mini-series) on the ABC, but I think it's skewed towards older people as well.I think this will do very well in total people in the Sunday 8.30pm slot, which has been huge for Midsomer on ABC, but I'm not convinced it will do that well in the demos. Though its competition is either older skewing (The Mentalist) or skews no one (Hawaii Five 0), so perhaps it will.

"Prime Television's hot new Edwardian drama series Downton Abbey proved to be as popular with New Zealand viewers on launch as it did with its British fans, resulting in record ratings for the free-to-air channel."
Not that Prime TV is necessary the pinnacle of high ratings in NZ it is encouraging. My advice... watch!

The Cloudstreet premiere is this Sunday on Foxtel, anyone think this may be factor in Downton Abbey not starting til next week? DWTS needs to eliminate some people to get shorter so DA starts at a respectable time, but I suspect they would have very similar audiences. What is CS expected to get ratings wise? I don't follow the PayTv ratings so not sure what a good mark would be? Although only a couple of hundred thousand I suspect.
I don't think Seven needs to worry about anything on Foxtel. The woeful ratings of 100k will have no impact on Downton Abbey. Speaking of which, the latest ad looks really good, the modern music works really well with the storyline.
