Hard to be excited about another real crime/gangs show.

Why are ten mucking around with another miniseries? this ones only 6 eps and won't be ready until 2012. They need to get serious and put the resources into getting full season dramas made to meet their quotas.

Have you followed the Screen Australia changes to Film/TV funding ? it may answer your question about this drama & many others in "short run"production.
This appears to be based on the 2003 attempt to make a movie and due to the nature of all involved should be quite different from the usual City Homicide, Rush CopsLAC etc.

If the preview is anything to go by, it'll be a shame if it's only stays as a mini series. Mind you being from the company that brought you Underbelly, they'll find a way to make more seasons

Shame a potentially good show will go largely unwatched because no one would know its on. Ten do not promote their shows. They even manage to fuck up decent shows.
Ten do promote their shows, but it's mostly on their own network. They have nowhere near the budget for external marketing that Seven and Nine have.

They should they own an outdoor advertising company right? They also own the Nova radio stations or at Least have a share no?
I love Ten but to make money you have to spend money and sometimes you have to go backward before moving forwards so spend big and miss out on some profits this year which in turn will hopefully turn the network around to becoming competitive agin

They would still have a marketing budget that they would have to stick to regardless of whether they own an outdoor advertising company or have connections to Nova.
I agree...they have to spend money to make money. They've had consecutive years of budget cuts and are feeling the pain of that this year with little new product available. However, it seems the new CEO shares your opinion of spending money to make money...especially coming from Seven where their budgets are absolutely huge compared to Ten. Hopefully we will continue to see announcements of new shows and Ten can start getting more depth to their schedule, as well as being given the marketing budgets to let people know the shows are on. All this is going to take time, however.

They have a new Chief Marketing Officer...a new postion created by Warburton. Hopefully he sees the value in ramping up both internal and external marketing.
Here Here. It's his job! First of its kind at an Aussie network too

and they still expect people to take their NRL bid seriously...Ten do promote their shows, but it's mostly on their own network. They have nowhere near the budget for external marketing that Seven and Nine have.
how is it that they can splurge on something like breakfast, which musn't be offering much return, but cant afford external marketing for their primetime shows?

Exactly. They spent heaps on New Girl/YTT earlier this year and most recently, quite a bit on Offspring. Nowhere near what Nine has splurged on The Voice, but still a considerable amount. If they want Bikie Wars to succeed, they need to pump it. Waiting for just MC to do all the work won't cut it.how is it that they can splurge on something like breakfast, which musn't be offering much return, but cant afford external marketing for their primetime shows?
