Might as well kickstart a thread. There's obviously the case that's been going on for the last few weeks, and now there's speculation about a new show on Ten.

The Spy Report:

The conservative Herald Sun columnist Andrew Bolt is in talks with Ten over an expanded role at the commercial network, a report claims.

Crikey reports that Bolt - who has appeared regularly as a panellist on the ABC's Insiders and Ten's The 7PM Project - may be angling for a role that would "substantially expand his on-air remit" at Ten.

Bolt acknowledged the speculation on his blog this evening, but made no comment apart from saying: "Let's see."

The dismal failure of MTR shows their is no demand for this type of far-right wing agenda programming in Australia.

Bolt also appears regularly on the Today Show. His exchanges with Karl are always entertaining.

That article really scares me. Left wing bias on 7pm? With sometimes both Steve Price & Bolt appearing weekly? "the network needs a right-wing Fox News-style show in its line-up." Cya later ten.

I wouldn't mind a slightly conservative leaning show, but NOTHING from the likes of fox news & bolt, they are on the extreme-extremes. 7PM might be slightly left leaning with Charlie on it, but we don't see someone on the extreme left like Simon Sheikh with his own show on 10.

I can't see this helping the Ten News brand. With 6.30 they are trying to chase an audience that wants more informed coverage that looks at issues in-depth and thoughfully. Bolt on the other hand is the worst sort of tabloid opinion writer - partisan, pig-headed, often offensive, uninformed, and willing to make up the facts to suit his argument. This will alienate a good number of the viewers Ten has been winning over with 6.30.

You're completely right! He is the most inarticulate person to lead a discussion show.

Various sources have been saying for weeks now ten was looking for a new news and current affairs discussion program. Pilots have been filmed with host Andrew Bolt.
Program reportedly set to air at 10am Sundays, with a repeat at 4:30pm that same day.
Speculation around format is an editorial type program with guests and discussion.

8.00 Meet The Press
9.00 Sunday
10.00 Bolt

What they should do. What happened to the "they're taking Ten down the wrong adult-skewing path" experts?

By the way, personally, I'm scared for Meet The Press. They want Bolt to set the agenda, not MTP. Stupid move if they do it. Not ratings-driven at all. Pure "I want my opinion to make news and I'm Gina Hardfaced-... anyway. This is just splashing money around. Nobody's going to watch... but it's not even about that.

They'd likely move MTP to 9.30am then. Unless they want a weird gap between them.

I'd go;

09 00 Ten Morning News
09 30 Meet the Press
10 00 Bolt

But then again, I would never employ Bolt in the first place.

MTP would be an endangered species if Bolt signed. They want the quote to be from Bolt, not MTP.

A buried slot in a Sunday morning is as far as they'd go.. would still be a niche audience, definitely no higher then MTP.

Bolt is the wrong person - opinionated but not a good broadcaster. They should get John Mangos from Sky News - his talents are wasted there. He'd be good on an opinion/editorial/panel show. Under utilised at Sky

I could dig a Hannity & Colmes concept (Bolt & Negus?). Or maybe a Fox & Friends with Bolt, Tracey Curro & new young gun like Hamish or Matt Moran.
