Amazing rating for Australia's Got Talent. It thrashed MasterChef with over 20% more viewers! It's great to see a reality show which has genuine talent is doing the best instead of an over-rated cooking show.

AGT blitzed the opposition. MC really has a fight in its hands, technical hitches or not. W&L and NCIS did well. Nine's line-up of Customs, AFP and Sea Patrol was squeezed even further. Good figures for double episodes of Survivor.

That has to be one of the lowest figures for a Federal Budget speech in recent years.
Due to a broadcast interruption experienced during Tuesday night prime-time, full episodes of MasterChef, Bondi Vet and Neighbours did not air in all mainland city markets last night. Today's preliminary ratings data does not reflect the late night encore of MasterChef Australia which aired in Adelaide. Corrected figures for Tuesday 10 May will be available in the confirmed program logs issued by OzTAM on Thursday 12 May.
Not a mistake, if you read other parts of the forum apart from the ratings you would have seen that Eleven had severe technical difficulties for almost the whole period from 6:30 to 7.

Seven programmes to win 25-54. So even by their own measure AGT lost to MC last night. Again.
And Ten programmes to win 18-49, which they did.
Even with Ten's severe technical issues, the total people figures were a lot closer based on Masterchef times and Ten thrashed Seven in all key demos except 55+:

Very impressive result for AGT. It's always been an older skewing show, and is unsurprisingly being beaten by MasterChef in the demos, but it is still doing very well. Horrible result for Bondi Vet, not sure what Ten were thinking with that decision.

Nine would be devastated with these figures, particularly AFP. Two years in the making, billed as the next big thing, and it is absolutely tanking. From what I have seen it looks like a grainy, less polished version of The Force. Nothing we haven't seen before.

Demos are just a way for networks to disguise underwhelming ratings in their press releases. I know plenty of advertisers who will want to have their products advertised during TV shows which have an older audience because this audience are richer and more likely to spend on expensive products than 18-39 year olds who aren't as well off.
AGT beat MC fair and square in total viewers, therefore the fact is: AGT was more popular than MC yesterday. That fact can not be denied.

the situation is not that Masterchef is doing poorly, but that AGT is doing extremely well. And you can clearly see the reason for this - all the older Nine viewers have flocked to Seven. Also factor in MC was half an hour. And many of those would have switched over to AGT afterwards. So well done to both shows.
Nine would be devastated with these figures, Particularly AFP. Two years in the making, hyped up as a great new series, and it is absolutely tanking.
Nine need to get AFP out of the Tuesday night bloodbath, I still think it will work in a decent timeslot, get it off air now, stop wasting it and relaunch it later in the year

Yes, MC is still popular. Although the tide seems to be turning. I don't remember AGT beating MC like this last year.
Demos are just a way for networks to disguise underwhelming ratings in their press releases.
Ah, no UKTV Fan. Demos are the way networks pay the bills. Both Seven and Nine sell advertising rates based on 25-54 then 18-49 then 16-39. Total people numbers are meaningless. Only good for press releases and chest beating. I suggest you do some research to understand how the Australian TV industry works.
I know plenty of advertisers who will want to have their products advertised during TV shows which have an older audience because this audience are richer and more likely to spend on expensive products than 18-39 year olds who aren't as well off.
As I said, Seven sells based on 25-54, then 18-49, then 16-39. In that order. Regardless of what "advertisers you know" thet is how Seven runs its business. Older audiences are less prone to being swayed by advertising. Younger audiences are easily influenced by advertising, and if a advertiser can get them, young - they may have them, for live. OR so the theory goes - that the whole industry is based on.
Let's remember the only reason ratings exist is to determine advertising rates for the networks. And the networks sell advertising based on demos.
AGT beat MC fair and square in total viewers, therefore the fact is: AGT was more popular than MC yesterday. That fact can not be denied.
Not denying it for a second. More people watched AGT then MC. fair and square. But that's not important. What is is how many in 25-54 and 18-49 watched.
Yes, MC is still popular. Although the tide seems to be turning. I don't remember AGT beating MC like this last year.
You seem to be totally ignoring the fact that MC had technical difficulties in several states. Also, MC is half an hour, AGT goes for an hour and a half. AGT has over double the number of old farts watching it.
Your argument re advertising. I would completely disagree. Most advertising would be geared to the under 55's as they are more susceptible to changing habits.
