The Seven Network will launch it's 2012 programming slate at a function to be held on September 21. TEN was first to unveil their plans for the 2012 ratings year on August 17. Seven is keen to assert their dominance and showcase a strong schedule of new and returning product to agencies and clients.
New product? They really don't need any.

Better Thursday lineup, strong 9:30 content, more sitcoms, fresh US/UK content. There's a few holes for Seven to fill out if they really want to dominate.New product? They really don't need any.

Bring back Temptation Island! And no feel good crap, it needs to be salacious and scandalous.

I could be wrong but I think this is a sales launch. The actual programming launch is later. Again, could be wrong.

I would love to see TPIR return at 5:30 with Larry , and get rid of DOND ...
I would prefer to see Deal moved to 5pm with Larry hosting a new format at 5:30. I am currently in the UK and there are plenty of formats that could be transferred over to Australia. It would give Seven a strong foothold in the 5pm hour, move the 4:30 news back to being 30mins.

Impressive 2012 launch. Sales talked audience numbers and demos, Programming talked shows, new and old. Seven is reloading.

It's all very positive. I'm sure the Titanic mini series will be ratings gold off the back of Downton Abby.

I agree with this. DOND has been consistently losing, which I suspect is contributing to Seven News' losses in Sydney. They should try something new over summer, giving them the flexibility to perhaps rest DOND. Then, in the new year, Seven can either return DOND to 5.30 (if its replacement is a dud) or they can push it to 5pm.

Better Homes on Thursdays makes sense and should give the night the stability that it has been screaming out for for years on Seven.
It will be nice to get an Aussie comedy on commercial TV (if that is what the Kath and Kim project is going to be). I am doubtful if this will actually eventuate though.
The Working Dog is a good step forward. Wouldn't be surprised to see a season of Thank God You're Here pop up again either next year or the year after. Although Sports Fever! is surely a big risk. Sports themed shows have not had a very big success rate of late but I guess if anyone can it is Working Dog.

Didn't think we would get a new Aussie drama in addition to the three Seven already does (well 4 including Home and Away) so that is good to hear. They seem to realise the importance of anchoring the schedule around Australian content is what works.
As they keep saying, content is king. And Aussie content has proven to rate.
