Very slow night of TV. Geek has done quite well this season, especially for what is a very simple format. Seven have done well to maintain interest in the program. Should blow away the competition next week with the finale.

Shame to see The Slap fall from last week. Another brilliant episode. Easily dominated the slot however.

Very good ranking for Home and Away on such a low rating night. It's always very consistent.

Geeks rule.

The ABC could repeat The Slap in another prime time slot next year and it could do well again and pick up new viewers. Shame Rush didn't have bigger ratings for its final episode ever.

ABC news will be beating ACA soon.

Probably a stupid idea but I have been following the Pay TV ratings lately and have made a few observations. majority of the top 20 is made up of kids shows on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel. Seven have the rights to the FTA airings of the Disney shows and Ten to the Nickelodeon shows. Shows like iCarly and Good Luck Charlie do have an adult fan base too. Maybe Ten should try, over the summer, iCarly in primetime and Seven with Good Luck Charlie in primetime too. GLC is a family sitcom and could possibly work in primetime. Just an idea but has Australia had successful children's programs in primetime? (not Glee and that, genuinely defined kids shows)

Nobody has tried anything in years. Ten had a go earlier this year with H20: Just Add Water, although that was 5pm on a Sunday before yanking it. They still haven't screened the rest of season 3 yet. A few years ago they also tried Cybergirl at 6pm but that flopped.

Young Talent Time is coming in 2012. That could be a test for children's/family entertainment.

The cricket did very well on Fox Sports, not so the Presidents Cup golf. The golf did boost the audience for Hot Seat in Sydney and Melbourne (the golf ending right at 5.30pm even though the day's play was not over yet), which in turn helped Nine News beating Seven News in both cities.
Rush bowing out on a low total which is a shame.

I would like to start seeing them capture the numbers of those who watch shows on various networks websites. Personally, I play catch up TV rather that dedicate myself to have to watch it that night.

In the US, Golf Channel's day 1 of the Presidents Cup posted a new opening day audience record in the event's history, drawing 1.2 household rating and averaging 1.268 million viewers. The 16-hour time difference between Melbourne and US east coast means most of each day's play is shown in primetime in the US (Thursday's play was shown on Wednesday night). It's a shame we don't have the ratings for the golf on Nine, but I expect it will be around 150,000-200,000 viewers.
