Eleven is searching for a female host to front a new Saturday morning music and entertainment show.

Eleven is conducting the search through an online campaign named "Hunt For A Host", and the selected female host will be hosting alongside Scott Tweedie. Tweedie will be making his commercial television debut, coming to the Ten Network with experience of hosting shows on ABC3 including Prank Patrol, Studio 3, 3on3 and the 2011 Trop Jr Festival.

These shows are always overthought. We need a show that is just music videos, no hosts, interviews and gossip rubbish. Like rage but with popular songs. I remember that's what everyone wanted around the time video hits was axed. Just have a VoiceOver do the product infomercials which seem to need to be part of these shows.

Isn't that essentially just what you're getting from a music channel? You need some reason for music fans to choose the Eleven show over a network running music continuously or else there is no point.

It's been a while since we've had this kind of programme, so there's no reason why it couldn't be tried again. And good on Ten for at least pushing for more local content on Eleven.

The one thing I don't get though is why they axed the Video Hits brand and decided to go for this new programme. They could have just shifted it to Eleven at least and maybe revamped it up a bit.

Well then go to YouTube. An hour of straight music videos sounds like a massive waste of time.

as opposed to reruns of 80s 'favourites' like Diagnosis Murder and JAG? At least music videos is a bit more in line with Eleven's youthful focus and will no doubt be heavily subsidized by product placement or sponsorship

don't understand why they axe VH on Ten, then start a new show on Eleven? How is that cost cutting?

strange that Network Ten are doing this? Why don't they get "Hot 30 Countdown TV" from Southern Cross Austereo? It ties in with a radio show heard on Austereo in the major cities, and it promotes their radio stations and their sponsors (the very reason Southern Cross Ten airs it on weekend mornings). Or have the metro Ten's turned it down?

I don't know why Ten won't take the Hot 30 Coundown either. It woulld fit well with Elevens target demographic. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if Southern Cross Austereo buy Network Ten if the cross media laws are changed. (The last bit's off topic I know, just thought I'd mention it)

Ten is tied up with Murdoch's Nova network (they sell multi-platform advertising together), so I doubt they will belinking up with competitior to Nova, Austereo.

As for why they axed Video Hits - its obvious - sack all the hosts and producers - and now start a new show with cheaper hosts and producers and put in some corss-promotion and branded content. So it costs them much less that Video Hits ever did.

There's a funny promo with the host checking out potential co-hosts on his iPod: Deni Hines, Kerri-Ann Kennerley  and Ruby Rose then inviting viewers to audition.

Bizarre that Eleven can start promotion for the show now without a female co-host, yet Ten can't do the same for their much more important hope in Breakfast

Is it just me or is the host barely recogniseable in that promo from his ABC3 shows.

Very strange that it is being promoted.

Maybe because they have no idea when Breakfast will actually start. Rumours suggest 27 Feb at the earliest or possibly even mid March.

"Have your Breakfast with Ten in 2012.... or maybe 2013"

That's all that needs to be said :P

TEN has registered the names The Loop and Play. Possible names for the new Eleven music program?

The Loop sounds loopy. There have been a couple of other shows called that from overseas shown here.

This is one of them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Loop_(TV_series)
.

Play is okay. It would take a while to get used to it.

Yes, The Loop was a nice sitcom that Seven eventually aired through a few years ago.

I noticed Scott Tweedie was hosting/interviewing Corey Montieth from Glee at his appearance at Westfield Sydney last week.

Don't know why they don't put this new music show on Ten with repeats on Eleven. Everything that Ten has shown in the old Video Hits has been a flop. There have been about five different shows in the five months since Video Hits was axed. Ten will struggle to find anything better or higher rating.
