Much better than DoND!!! Was forced to watch DoND when it was axed back in 2005. Best game show ever made!!

While it would be nice to see TPIR back on our screens (I'd watch it over Eddie's Hot Seat anyday!), I'm not 100% sure it's going to happen. IIRC, when DOND first began (and was probably at its ratings peak at the time), TPIR on Nine tanked and was axed within a year or two.

If Seven decide to revive the show (yet again!), I hope they don't take inspiration from the US set which looks like something from the 1970's. Also, put DOND at 5pm with TPIR at 5.30pm and not the other way round because if TPIR airs at 5pm it will probably turn out like WOF at 5pm which only lasted about 6 months before Seven returned to normal programing. On a final note, if the show comes back, incorporate a "window" for the news headlines during the showcase.

I agree, deal or no deal has had its day. I'd watch millionaire if eddie didn't spend so much time talking crap with the contestants. So I watch Capital Hill, when I have the chance.

Price is right would be something familiar but also new and different to what we have been use to in recent years.

Also an hour of news isn't working unless there's breaking news.

I think it makes sense to start it off at 5pm. If it works then shift it to 5.30. But there is always a risk with these game shows that they'll tank. Although it is fading, DOND is steady. Seven are wise to test TPIR first before shifting it to 5.30.

Everything old is new again. Next - Sale of the the Century will be on 9 at 7pm with Tony Barber or Glenn Ridge. And Perfect Match at 5.30pm on 10 with Greg Evans and Debbie Newsome and Dexter. the guy who operated dexter is now a sound recordist at ACA in Sydney.
Network programmers must just have a whiteboard with all the old shows listed and eventually every show makes it back to the top of the list.

The Price Is Right is one of those perennial formats that never seems to go away. It's been doing the rounds of the networks on and off since the late 1950s. If Seven does bring it back I think it will be the 8th or 9th Australian version of said program - probably more than any other game show franchise.

Looks like Deal or No Deal is finished, time to bring back The Price is Right as a 1hr show in the lead up to seven News.

I think a 1hr version sounds horrible. Surely Larry wouldn't be able to do it if he is still doing TMS.

like I said before, TPIR is one format that always seems to bounce back on a high. The only time I don't think it ever really took off was when Ten revived it as a Saturday night program in 1989 but Ten was in all sorts of mess then, it wasn't the format that failed it was the network as a whole.

It is, and that's exactly why it failed in its last season on Nine. They extended it to an hour and emulated the US format to combat a growing DOND and sucked badly.
