The channels over on Ten have changed.

1 is TEN HD (Broadcasting TEN HD)
10 is TEN Digital (Broadcasting TEN SD)
11 is ONE HD (Broadcasting TEN HD)
12 is TEN HD (Broadcasting TEN SD)

And this new watermark has popped up on Channel 12

So Ten is keeping a HD channel?

Looks like Ten will have both Ten HD & One HD (smart & great decision) & there will be an SD simulcast of each channel. Although, how come the second Ten HD channel is simulcasting Ten SD with a different watermark?

There won't be two HD channels, there can't be. Channel 11 is just a placeholder advertising that One HD is coming soon.

No changes in SC Ten territory.

That SD2 watermark is horrible.

Okay, but why bother then - they could have changed all this near One's launch.

Exactly....why even bother making a TenSD2 watermark? Doesn't make sense, considering that the reports have been just Ten, OneHD and OneSD. Does this mean that Ten may go down the path of having OneHD Ten and TenSD2?

Average Bitrates in Melbourne for those interested:
One HD: 13.5
Ten SD: 3.7
One SD: 3.5

I'd say if Ten dropped One HD's resolution to 1440x1080i it would probably still look okay at that bitrate, though 720p is probably still their best bet. Ten SD will look like shit from now on though, and I can't imagine sport on One SD.

Melbourne:
1 is ONE HD (Broadcasting TEN HD)
10 is TEN Digital (Broadcasting TEN SD)
11 is ONE HD (Broadcasting TEN HD)
12 is ONE Digital (Broadcasting TEN 'SD2')

So people can realise that it isn't just a redirect. It is more for their testing ability. Though look for Ten HD programming like the NBA and Sports Tonight's early editions on there. That said Ten have mentioned One SD won't always be a copy of One HD, which is good for avoiding last year's IPL situation.

And to reiterate, Ten can't do two HD channels, and they aren't allowed to do three SD channels. You will loose HD simulcasting of Ten when One does a full launch. Utilise the lack of EPG info to ensure any long term recording schedules are switched to Ten SD.

Indeed that is the case, Ten HD's promos/PRG are going through to Ten SD2, so I'll say with confidence that any multichanneled stuff on Ten HD will appear on this channel as well. This cap doesn't really show how bad this looked on air.

It is on channel 12 and titled ONE Digital. Reset to defaults or unplug the box for a while if it still won't come up.

Sydney ten SD looks like it was done by camera phone = total sham !

( TW Caps are from today of a show filmed in HD ! )

I see the new SD ten Sports logo from CH12

I am sick of any ten recording now having .. ( time date stamp ) -ONE Digital comming soon - ( Programme name )

When there is movement on screen , it appears that SD ten is on par with the shoestring budget digital ABC2, who have an excuse for that bit rate !, sooo fragged out.

It figures that with a Solicitor of worlds best practice is at the helm ( Howard ) any laws passed under Alston & Coonan , would have loopholes wider than the Simpson Dessert ..ie: Ten still have to produce HD content however do not actually have to show it, something unbelievable & would not happen when the Act was passed back in the day !

Ahh USA Sports in HD & kick ass sound.. just what every Aussie Idol, So you think You Can Dance, Video Hits Kid want to watch & listen to after ( parents ) forking out the $$ to enjoy HD TV

"seriously middle aged fat guts doode at the helm ahoy !!"

I'd like the Seven watermark to be a little bit bigger. And possibly in the safe zones. Nine and Ten's are. Can't they be consistent?

So much for Southern Cross Ten. SC Ten HD is only broadcasting the same old High Def demo.

Why would you want it in the 4:3 safe zone?
