While it is the #1 non-news/sport show of the night (there is nothing else that could be) and no doubt did very well in demos, it is not great that Masterchef lost audience from Sunday. MKR will have no problem finding a reasonable size audience (maybe not as big as 2012 but bigger than that I would be quite sure).

Home and Away returns very well. I was expecting about 850,000 just because of the time of year but to almost crack a million shows how strong and consistent this show is for Seven.

Very strong late figures for the Tennis especially without a Perth figure and the fact that the main match was done by about 11pm and repeats of a women's match shown after that. I expect it to grown over the week.

Masterchef held up well. Modern family repeats rating higher in the 8:30-9:30 timeslot than anything Ten have put there in ages.

It seems News at Five and The Project up week on week.

People still watching the tennis in droves.

Mulit channels did well last night.

Masterchef outrated Home and Away despite being up against the Tennis and having stronger competition. This show is doing well and anything above a million this time of year is beyond expectations. It's clearly a hit on a network which needs a show like this to kick off the year. If it can consistantly pull what it's doing now all involved will be happy.

The tennis outrates Masterchef again this year.

Can anyone explain the Tennis rating codes Night and Late? Is Night 7.30-pm to 10.30pm and Late 10.30pm to midnight? Or is it split some other way?

Not bad return for Home & Away, even after 25 years. Too much of The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family and Qi in the schedule.

The figures vary for all sorts of reasons apart from viewers deciding they don't want any more. Sunday is obviously very different from Monday for a start. I think Ten will be hugely relieved that it stayed above 1 million. Around here the expectation was more like 800k. Think what it would do with a decent cast.

When was the last time anything rated above a million on Ten on a Monday? Probably before last year's olympics.
If Ten can get above a million for the first 9 eps of Masterchef that is three weeks of promo's they can run to an audience that hasn't been watching Ten. So the strategy to go early is to use it as a promo platform for the other shows that will start up. I dont think there is anything else they can do. They don't have tennis or cricket to use to promote their line up.

With Modern Family repeats...I can watch these endlessly. I have seen all eps multiple times but still laugh. It's in the same vein as Simpsons and Seinfeld. Big Bang is also in the same vein.

In regards to the tennis...I am a massive sports fan and will watch anything but I don't see the point in watching the Tennis without Aussies in contention. Obviously there are these once a year fans who will watch it, think they are experts and lap it up but really when push comes to shove they dont really like sport.

The Williams game was so amusing. Although one way for the whole match, it literally looked like she was on 100% battery and Kirilenko was running on 10% battery.

I'm calling it for the finals: Williams vs. Sherapova. Both have been playing extremely well this year!

Masterchef has done what few other shows have done - outrate the tennis. Number one in its timeslot in TP and all three demos again. It has pulled the tennis ratings down from last year by about 300,000.
Very competitive night. H and A returns to good numbers. The halo effect is being seen from MC: The Professionals as well with The Project getting its highest rating for the year by far. Even ABC News close to a million at 7pm
7 News outrates Nine by 30,000 in Brisbane for the new duo. Melbourne's 7 News second half does well against ACA.

As far as I know the ratings times are different for each city. Something like the following
Sydney and Melbourne 7.30 - 10.00 and 10.00 - 12.30
Adelaide 7.30 - 9.30 - 12.00
Brisbane 7.30 - 9.00 - 11.30
Perth not sure of the exact times but up to 6.00 then on 72

Could be slightly different to this but you will get the idea.

I don't see the point in watching the Tennis without Aussies in contention.

Well, I just want to watch good matches and good players, wherever they are from. Too much coverage in early rounds each year is taken up by Aussies who, frankly, are not that good, don't have entertaining games and will probably never get past the 3rd round of any major tournament. Meanwhile on other courts the game's stars are playing.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the TP number but the change has not made any impact in the demos yet.

Nine News 18-49: 86,000
Seven News 18-49: 58,000

I felt that the line up was changed to give a younger face to their presentation so that will be an area to watch.

The tennis outrates Masterchef again this year.

Masterchef has done what few other shows have done - outrate the tennis.

Some clarification might be required?

Given that this round of the tennis last year had both Tomic and Hewitt still playing of course it is going to be down year on year. Really given that Seven basically has wall to wall coverage all day and most of the night I think it is performing about where it should be without any Aussie drawcard. Even just above probably. They would be making a killing anyway, every single little thing about the broadcast is sponsored.

As per my original post "Number one in its timeslot in TP and all three demos again". Masterchef was number one in its timeslot in TP and the three demos - it rated higher than the tennis that was on at the same time.
