Glenn Wheeler was just about the only shift at 2UE where the ratings were going up. They should get rid of Tim Webster and put him in there not axe him, very surprising.

Well Tim Webster & John Stanley have increased their % slightly but more importantly in both cases it was at the expense of 2GB and the ABC.
So I think they should both stay unchanged at the moment.
I think 2UEs' biggest problem is breakfast, & the carry over to the morning shift. That, & the fact that Alan Jones goes through till 10 instead of 9.

I still would like to see Tim Webster doing the old Laws timeslot.

So would I because it seemed quite OK when he filled in for Laws last year.
My guess is that he wanted the later shift so he could make a shorter workday out of his 2UE and Ch10 commitments as well.

I just checked UE's website, they've got Glenn Wheeler down as doing 2pm-6pm Weekends. So whats the go has been given the boot or not?

I initially didn't like Glenn's style but grew to like him. I've always thought it was a mistake to take George & Paul off the afternoon shift, though. Glenn should have done weekend mornings IMO

And what a surprise (not!) 96FM's Rod & The Flack increased b'fast by 0.6% to 8.4% in the survey that the Perth GM or Fairfax Radio GM dumped them from the slot (to nights).

All other Perth FM b'fast shows decreased in this survey, unlike Rod & The Flack.

Further to this travesty of programming bungles, more staff departing, obviously unhappy at the undermining of programming control by management above. The b'fast producers were lured to 96 on the promise of working with Rod & The Flack and now clearly, this hasn't happened with the regurgitation of past stars (to put it nicely!) to the 96 b'fast slot. Am sure replacing this top team of producers will be some chump chops that are inexperienced and cheap in stark contrast to the high calibre of the recently departed producers.

Jocks Journal.com is now reporting that:

96FM Perth breakfast producers Greg Edgeworth and Sandra Galati have both resigned a week after the departure of station PD Brad McNally.

Yes... it seems those rumours of Glen going are true... it seems he relived his departure from 2GB... sending an all staff memo saying exactly what he thought of 2UE's management..... your hat sir? Don't let the door hit you on the way out....

Ian Maurice is filling in for Greg Cary this morning (who is off ill) on 4BC.

This shift in other states is occupied by Neil Mitchell and Steve Price.

When Neil is off, ch 9 & now 7 journo Nick McCallum fills in.

4BC this morning is quite amusing - such a depth of talent in Brisbane (wink, wink).

Must've been a corker of an e-mail. Mike made a brief mention of it on the breakfast show the other morning.

He now has something in common with the former host of the Hot 30 on the Austereo network - they both were escorted out of their respective stations.

But Lowie is a proper talent and deserved his prime time/national spot.

Lowie worked there under trying circumstances, being undermined and given next to no support by management. No attempt to understand or nurture such a talent as Lowie.

If there were more PDs like John Brennan and others of his ilk who knew how to nurture talent, Lowie would not have been lost from radio.

Since leaving radio, Lowie has hosted national TV show, Ralph TV and this year is involved in a number of projects on various platforms.

No, simply dig into the truth and the lies at the time peddled about do not stack up.

Sure, Lowie has an ego and its something to be proud of? Who remembers the at-work announcers on his station? Most importantly, who remembers the nobodies who did the Hot 30 before and after him?

Chris Page
Kate Mac - #1 overall often
Phil O'Neill
Kyle
Jackie O
Alexis

just a few of them. When it comes to Craig Lowe, I'd take Crispy and Kate Mac anyday.

I don't mean to offend anyone.
I'm sorry to say but what appeals to the younger generation might not actually appeal to us older of nerdy types here at mediaspy.
Lowie did well for who he was targeting.
Sure it was crass and rude but jeez.
He made radio exhilerating to listen to!
I never wanted to tune out.

Great point Ryanradioboy!

Anyway, am listening to 96FM and while I still have a hitman out for who gave Rod & The Flack the punt to nights, great effort with the music, lots of 90's tunes during their night shift and an excellent classic from The Skyhooks, 'Ego is not a dirty word'! What an awesome song, not played enough on radio today.

It gets a lot of airplay here, but we miss out on "smut", "motorcycle bitch" and "why dont.................." wink.gif

Am sure you can guess which Skyhooks song is a good one to say "that's my song" to? Has the word 'me' in it (wink, wink)

Has anyone heard the rumours Fairfax is going to buy 2GB?
