I think there are two likely options. I agree the most likely option is that Steve Liebmann will go but I wouldn't be surprised to see Stuart Bocking be put in the morning slot (possibly with Tracy Spicer)and put Paul Murray in the night slot. Either that or they'll do something no-one expects them to do.

Paul Murray live is on Sky News Weeknights and will run an hour, I can't see him on 2Ue nights because of this.

Thinking about your scenario with Bocking and Spicer on mornings, maybe Paul Murray on Drive. And the Two Murrays buried at night!

I think the Two Murray's (won't that get confusing!) will be better suited to nights.

I don't think so....he just wants to work at Foxtel doing his crime specials.

As much as I'd like to think Paul Murray would be good at breakfast, it's obvious that 2UE is gearing up for Lawsy's return to radio.

This obviously is a well thought through re-shuffle. It's Brenno waving his wand, and the station hoping none of Lawsy's last hanging listeners will move to 2SM.

Your right about the Brennans waving their wand Pete....both Peter & John are there to do business and Murray is the first of a few changes to the line up.Watch breakfast & mornings to start. The changes at UE have been needed for long time and it's good to see UE getting serious about it.

From The Spy Report:

Brennan hopes that Murray's move across to AM will help kick start a generational change at the station.

That's actually not a bad idea. A talkback station for younger listeners. Let's face it, there are a lot of the youth today now listening to AM radio.

Besides, it will also give 2UE a niche to focus on... and will make 2GB sound like an 'oldies' station.

I'm seriously getting on this Brenno bandwagon before it takes off!!

lol it's a really small minority of youth who listen to AM radio, and they're mostly listening to Alan and Ray on 2GB.

Among the youth, 2GB rates 6.3% compared to 2UE on 0.5%! Triple J rates 10.7%. 2DAY 18.6%, Nova 17.7%

Paul Murray is a good pickup for 2UE but if they don't fix breakfast, changes are all for nothing.

I'd look at Paul Murray in Breakfast, would offer a strong alternative to Alan Jones. Probably do well with younger listeners as well. John could move to Mornings.

Brian Carlton was good on both 2UE and 2GB a few years ago, and would be great on a revitalised 2UE if he were to be poached from Triple M.

Mike Jeffreys is really wasted on 2UE overnights, maybe there is a daytime spot for him?!?

The John Stanley and Sandy Aloisi 2UE Breakfast program is no more. Ends next week. John Stanley is staying with 2UE and will be on another program next year.

I remember when Dean Matters joined 2UE in the 1980s and the station expected his listeners to move across from 2WS. Those tuned to 1224 did not move to 954. It was 2UEs attempt at gaining a younger audience. It did not work.

If 2UE expect Paul's Sky News and Triple M listeners to make the move they will need to make sure those listeners know that Paul is now on 2UE.

They will also need to make sure the product is engaging.

It is not going to be as easy as it sounds. At least 2UE will remain a commercial talk alternative from the ranting at 2GB.

Whilst I am talking about talk radio - why is it that only right wing announcers get angry. Why can't we have a left leaning person who also gets angry??????

You are right but he always sounded a bit awkward, like he was uncomfortable getting upset.

I miss Mike - love his column in the Herald every Saturday.

Remember Mike mentioned he might pop up doing the occasional fill-in on 2UE? ... Well I haven't heard from him since.

I wonder if Brenno's got his eyes on Mike again? They could do with some more hard-hitting announcers in 2011.

I hope so. Bring him back at Drive. What's happenning with Sandi Alouisi? I'm glad that show's been dumped, John Stanley doesn't need her as a side-kick.
