I know many would disagree, but Seven should still return it to 8:30 next year.

Let's see if Vanessa Williams can bring the series back into full life again.

The final rating 939 000 up till 10:30 is still strong for an imported drama in its 6th season. I know many would disagree, but Seven should still return it to 8:30 next year. As we have all seen every year, new shows come and go (i.e Dirty Sexy Money, Hung, Flashforward, Cougar Town...etc), but at the end of the year, every year, it is always these constant performers (i.e Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters...etc) which continually draw in the loyal viewers every year.

Desperate Housewives moving to 9:30 would be the end of the show on Australian television in my opinion. My evidence to this is just look what happened to massive 8:30 hits Lost, Heroes, Prison Break when they moved to 9:30. They failed and never recovered. Then, the new shows replacing them at 8:30 also failed, and therefore Seven had even a larger number of failed shows than if they kept these shows at 8:30.

Seven should give the Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters combo another chance next year.

I disagree. If seven want to give another go they should fast track it. But I don't think it should be put at 8:30 if it doesn't get fast tracked. I thought it got less than 800k over the 2 hours not over 900. And DH doesn't have loyal viewers. It has lost over 200k on last year. Which doesn't scream out loyal viewers IMO.

Seven had a daytime encore in some markets and that was coded together with the 8:30 showing for some reason. It ended up with a 2hr average of 939,000.

Given half the cast are reportadly leaving, seven should make this a 930 show for sure. Have good late night ratings and give a new show a chance to cement itself on mon 8:30 before DH finiahes.

They're talking about leaving at the end of 'next' season not 'this' season. So that means they'll be around until mid 2012.

I have to say 7 have killed the promo for DH this year with Guy's song.
They should have stuck with the original...

Aus networks rarely get the same music rights as the US. I think that song works well

Having seen the original, I think I prefer Seven's version. Seven have a good track record with picking current or upcoming songs to pair with their major promos. I think with summer here and with the promo no doubt on high rotation, coupled with the song on the radio, it's just extra promotion by association.

Isn't early December usually quite early for Seven to start promoting a February show?

I love DH, and while it is quite a demotion timeslot-wise, it does set up a good night of viewing with Good Wife and DH following each other. So I'm happy as long as Seven doesn't mess it around.

It clashes with The Graham Norton Show on ABC2 and The Inbetweeners running over time on Go!

Graham Norton gets repeated on Saturday nights when there is NOTHING else to watch, if that helps. Otherwise catch-up TV.

Not to mention The Footy Show (NRL and AFL) when it resumes in March.
