Can these Myki cards tap on/off through wallets?
I just keep my go-card (Brisbane's equivalent) in my wallet and tap it against the spot when I walk past. The signal is strong enough to get through usually.
Yes they can.

The most annoying thing about the Myki system is the 24 plus hours it takes for credit to show up after you top up online... comparing with other types of online transactions, there is no excuse for it not to be virtually instant

Well, I forgot to put in my original comment that, by putting the card in my wallet, it doesn't get worn. Used mine for 2 years and it still looks new.

I always get the "Multiple Cards Detected" error if I leave it in my wallet, so I have to take it out each time.

Mine works perfectly, and its beside my bank card/ID.
Is the go card system any different to Myki? Sounds very dodgy if the detectors and/or cards don't work through wallets.

Has the Victorian Government made a decision on what they're going to do with the tourist using public transport?

Is Myki available on V/Line yet?
Also, I got fined $150 last year because I didn't have my concession ID card with me at time to use a concession Myki.

Were you not able to provide it at a later time either in person or via photocopy?

The Myki Topup machines are actually used as cash/eftpos Ticket Vending Machines here in Perth. funny that they can be repurposed.
The Myki seems far, far weaker in comparison to the Smartrider we have in Perth. Everyone touches their wallets (or even their handbags) on the readers here - where with my Myki I literally have to bash it against some readers for it to even work correctly.

I didn't end up disputing the fine, I paid the $150. I couldn't be bothered for how ever long waiting to hear back from them. The ticketing officers told me I could the dispute the fine.

Has the Victorian Government made a decision on what they're going to do with the tourist using public transport?
The Government has urged tourists to buy the Myki Visitor Pack, which includes a Myki with enough value for zone 1 travel for one day, a tram map, and discounts at 15 attractions. It has also installed a box at the Skybus terminal at Southern Cross Station for visitors to drop their Mykis if they are not returning to Melbourne any time soon.

Not much good for me if I need to venture to and back on multiple days from Ringwood or Craigieburn (which is often).

Transport advocates and commuters are concerned about a draft train timetable, revealed last week by Fairfax Media and due to be implemented in October. They say it is unclear whether the timetable meets Barry O'Farrell's election promise of 135 new and faster express services to the central coast, Blue Mountains, Penrith and Campbelltown. It also fails to include an election promise of a direct service between the central coast and Macquarie Park and Macquarie University. Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian said on Monday the timetable was a draft version with ''plenty of work to do'' before it was finalised.
