A bit sudden I think. The old one hadn't even been in for a year.

Has anyone noticed that SBS WNA has been doing more live crosses to its correspondents and also there's more Australian domestic news in the bulletins. (and the set looks fine!)

I'm sure it does if you're colour blind, wear an eye patch and have had too much to drink...

I'll have to try that. (Except for the colour blindness)

It is easily the worst set on Aus TV. I would rather they key in HSV's old 'Under The Sea' look.

i still prefer it over WIN 1990 era News and WIN "i'm so over the top" News.

And it's great to actually see what some of the reporters look like. yes.gif

Before the relaunch, SBS World News consisting of nothing but voiceover reports most of the time, and it created the impression that it was little more than a "read and read" service, with very little journalism going on behind the scenes.

I'm not saying the quality of the reporting has improved, or that anything is majorly different, but since we are now seeing the reporters on camera, SBS News just comes across (in my opinion) as a more polished and professional news organisation.

Reporters in the field creates the perception that they are out there digging up the stories, as opposed to ripping stories off the wires.

SBS WNA's OTS graphic's have lost most of the 3D effect and fits in better with the set

Man ever since the "Eurovision" relaunch, SBS World News Australia is getting better and better, the set's been toned down slightly, but the content is fantastic with two reports on the Hurricane is the U.S plus a live phone cross to New Orleans and now there's a live cross about the protests in Sydney.

A fascinating edition of Insight this evening. Haven't watched it in awhile, but I really like the new dedicated forum set.

SBS World News Australia is getting better but I still hate the set and graphics.
Maybe a different colour would look better than purple. (Lime Green & White)

Who could forget the great  "Australia is in danger of being swamped by Asians" debate of 1988 in which Ron Casey smashed his glass of water on the studio floor, gave Jana the finger and stormed out of the debate? Expect to see that moment again in one of  nine's 50th anniversary specials next year.

I posted that ages ago http://mediaspy.org/...opic=151&st=650

P.S. how do I quote from another thread?

Great thing about SBS WNA is that it's at 6.30pm, so you can watch the more local news (7,9 ABC and 10) before it or after it.
