One thing I want to know from the pro watermarkers. You say you can't notice them.

So what exactly is the point of having them then?

I'm not pro-watermark. I'm just saying that if you need to have them, you should do it properly.

Quite true.

Even though the current one is a bit big and poorly designed, at least it isn't a gold logo that is on screen all the time in the program. Of course, when the WIN Australia watermark appeared, it was multi-colours and 3D.

Prime's the closest to a good watermark but it still doesn't hit the mark.

If it more transparent than it is now, I think it would be the 'ideal' watermark, even though none would be better.

cheerful.gif If win got rid of that map of australia it would look a lot better don't you agree?
Maybe put the dots back on it and just have a clear watermark!

If WIN just went with a simple watermark of their logo, then yes, I agree with you. yes.gif

Are we thinking the same watermark here? cheerful.gif I'm thinking of the one with just the WIN logo without the map of Australia.

yeah i get ya.... have kinda the same one like on the today show but... not with blue strip and the win in black but like nine's white and pale..... and not that visible at times.....

Examples:

1. One of nine's

2. One of the Win Australia Watermark.

3. One of Win High Deaf.

Which IMO they should have, make it smaller and remove high deaf as it is not the high deaf one. As for the one they have got now get rid of it win.. cheerful.gif

What do ya think?

Well spike tv's one doesn't look too bad. The others pretty much look like the ones our cable channels use, solid and in your face.

I'm surprised nines digital one is so in your face, no wonder some are afraid of burn in - esp if you watch shows which are 4:3. You can barely see the analogue one.
You're going nowhere fast, like a moose without legs; tied to a truck with no petrol!

Once again, I'm not sure of the point of a watermark on digital when the EPG tells you what you're watching anyway.

Also RM, when a show is in 4:3 shown with black bars on a 16:9 plasma, the watermark WILL burn in, but the black bars will too.

If watermarks are completely necessary, the ABA or whoever would have the authority to regulate watermarks should enforce a "law" or rule if you like, whereby the Australian TV networks must use watermarks that:

1. Are in the same fixed position all the time (preferably bottom right corner)
2. Are as transparent as possible
3. Are a fixed size
4. Only show the network logo, nothing else.
5. Do not animate.

They should only be used purely for network identifcation.

I've been into appliance stores, and it would have to be by far, the 7 HD Digital watermark, the biggest watermark ever! eyepopping.gif It's gigantic on those plasmas and it deters yout attention from the program, no doubt about it. Of course with bigger TV's, watermarks are going to look bigger, but I think most of you can agree that the 7 HD Digital watermark looks pretty big on any display.
