I've not noticed it on the ABC recently, but I do see the commercial networks zooming in, especially with ABC footage, until the watermark's almost completely off-screen.

ABC and 7 zoom it to the 14:9 frame, which most of the time cuts off part or most of the watermark.

I heard that as well as airing all HD programming from the conclusion of the Commonwealth Games, WIN may also introduce a new watermark as well.

I found some additional ammo for the fight against watermarks. While this would be old to media law buffs, but according to the Telecommunications Act, a station is required to identify itself every so often. That's why in the old days, Seven, Nine and Ten used to have a solid image appear in the corner for a few seconds. Then when the stations got lazy, they must of found a loophole meant having a solid identification like watermarks would bypass it. I'm not sure on the exact paragraph, but if I get the time, I'll have a look for it again

Doesn't this mean the full lot though, including the Callsign, Station Number, Location, etc?

A few things they could do, the sports watermark (without the 9 of course), the WIN HD one without the HD and a bit more transparent or the sports watermark down the bottom

they have a new watermark?

so they finally changed the australia map one to tie in with the launch of primetime HD, possibly. I suppose, they may as well do all those things on one day, makes sense. I hope it is like nines, just transparent win in a box, i did the same thing copying the win logo into paint shop and making it black and white, then transparent to look like the nine one, i tihnk it works well, so i hope thats what it is. I cant cap anything and post it til tonight so hopefully kenneth or sticky can for us.

Here are some screenshots of the new WIN watermark:

RETURN IDENT:
Attached File  WIN_Return_Ident.jpg (39.36K)
Number of downloads: 177

NEW WATERMARK:

Number of downloads: 223

In my opinion the new WIN watermark is much better than the old terribly designed "WIN Australia" watermark.

Thanks for those Stickylabel.

Personally, I think they should use the full colour logo for the PRG. The current one looks odd.

Also, from what I have seen on the 2nd capture, they could use a bit more transparency.

Very nice look, clean & simple.

It's got some varying transparancy levels in two corners of the box which makes it different to Nine's.

And I like that it's not very bright - I'm sure my plasma will apreciate it as well!
