They have always had the 7 live watermark on digital, "HD" however has the regular watermark

Not always, throughout ITT and the first couple of eps of DWTS, digital had no watermark.

I think we've got some of the most discreet watermarks compared to other stations around the world. I caught a season one episode of PrisonBreak from Fox5 and the watermark on that was solid white (pretty much). It wasn't that distracting. Bottom left is the best for discreetness.

They also have annoying solid, animated ones. If you watch enough Nightline, they'll eventually source a story from the ABC (US) version. Not only is it solid, but it's big enough to cover all three safe areas and worse still, it animates. Whereas we seem to have a faint, grey watermark (and in some stations, it fades in and out, pending on the colour), except for stations such as Seven Central and GWN, they have rock solid watermarks.

It's not that bad. The animating news one on the other hand...

(I assume you mean Fox 5 New York (WNYW)? or Fox8?)

I agree with you on that, there are some decently done watermarks, Prime's is one I rate highly. If you're going to do it, do it well, that's what I say.

I agree...its a shocker, and VERY distracting.

From what I've seen of the Seven HD watermark, not on it's size, but it's transparency seems to be quite good.

I suspect this is the one you are talking about. I don't mind the watermark at all personally.

It is way too big, and it is also way too opaque.

The more transparent the better, I don't see the problem.

Welcome to my world, the other day our's wasn't lined up properlt so you could see about three inches of the nine logo, so how did they fix that you may ask, simple, they just streched it, so it looked worse....

Ok, so what are the odds of that Japanese Midget submarine story on 60 minutes being swamped with large, solid and intrusive watermarks? You've seen how it looks in the ads, but how bad will it really be?

Watching football in QLD on WIN watermark has little dots on edge of the logo the last few days the old looked cleaner but this is horriable WIN must be cost cutting the logo area.

ABC seems to be the worst when it comes to watermark consistency. There exclusive tags are all over the place. Watching the Hopman Cup, I thought the ABC had it's own sports watermark, currently it's just a rather large standard ABC in the top right hand corner.

And various states are doing various styles/transparency etc. for the watermark on sports.

5th Ashes Test Watermarks:

Day 1 - Grey translucent
Day 2 - Normal white translucent

Did anyone else notice that?

The grey was awful.
