While we're on the ideas of network mocks,
here's one that I created for TEN.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That's very similar to the original 10 Melbourne logo.. just after they made the switch from Channel O in the '80's.
That logo was gold though, not blue.

My mock is based on the 'Summer on Ten' logo.

I think the "ring" is the original SBS logo when it was channel 0-28

Perhaps :) Beauty is a very subjective thing.
At least there was a reason for the "ring"

Here's three more for you to look at:

My idea is that Ten resurrect the 'That's Entertainment' launch from 1991
but have it revamped for 2005.

I dont think you did that, what you did was re-create the old 7 and SBS logos from decades ago and in that respect they are ok.

But next time you make a mock, please provide and accurate discription.

Here's another Seven mock that I created:
It's sort of the new 'Casual 7' logo...

And speaking of Seven, here's an idea:
Using the split logo from the nineties, have it up in the sky
with a plane flying past, and the slogan 'You're on Seven'.

The in the sky thing?
Ummm hard to say.. the concept sounds alright... but I'd really need to see some visualisation.
A simply plane trailing a banner doesn't sound too exciting.
But if you married that with some high tech graphics etc .. there could be some potential.

Great much better colours then those that seven are using, but it kind of reminds me of a forum i usually visit(in terms of the colours you used). :eyepopping:

Let me guess did you also design the Media Spy mod avatars?

From my perspective, I think the problem with almost all of those designs is that they're too complex. They suffer from the same problem that the Ten News graphics do - they're a bit over the top.

Take the third graphic there - the Aussie Open slide. It's got two sparkling lens flare sort of things, and then another similar thing up at the top with the stripes circling around. Yet I would suggest having just one sparkling lens flare, or just the stripes circling around (like on the 7NEWS slides), and choosing a contrasting colour for that top box, would make the whole thing look much better. Less is more.

That having been said, I do like the Ten News stuff there. I wouldn't have used 'Square' for the font on the titles and split screen - I only really like the extended version of that font, but in general, that whole font family makes things age very quickly (although, I must admit, I do like it's use for the 7NEWS logo - it works much better than I thought it would).

I'd say that all those designs show good talent, and great understanding of photo/image editing software - but it's just a case of knowing when to use what features and design elements. Clearly you don't want to have Sky Business Report simplicity, but equally, you don't want to go overboard with all sorts of fancy ideas all stuck in the one piece of work. It's just a matter of getting the balance right.
Awake and Alert - but never alarmed.
