Simon O'Donnell on The Sunday AFL Footy Show!

Played 20 games for St.Kilda before his cricket career took off, so he'd have some idea at least.

Tonight's Grand Final Edition is at Allphones Arena. Are they gonna fill that whole arena?

For anyone interested, some snapshots of the rather interesting opener of tonight's Grand Final edition with Ken Sutcliffe presenting a mock Nine News bulletin:

Wonderful! They've made a mock for us. Saves abesty, you, and other mock specialists some time :)

I particularly like the one where it says "Breaking Breaking Breaking News"... hahaha. And the other one where he's in the anchor position. I wouldn't mind him leading Nine News Sydney's bulletin for a night actually...

You know what, they're all hilarious.

You wouldn't happen to have a video of the mock, would you SydneyCityTV?

Sorry, I don't have the video of the mock because I didn't record it. Hopefully, someone else will have it because it was amusing to see the show open with the opener of TBBT before flicking to the mock bulletin!

Also what is it with blokes who pop the question to their girlfriend in public in front of a crowd? Happened last night. I've also seen it at quite a few footy games too. To use a Vince McMahon expression You'd have to have balls the size of grapefruits to do that. Either that or just extremely confident in getting an acceptance. Otherwise you'd look like a complete goose.

A great opening but it was all downhill from there. Poorly produced. Hardly anything new, basically all highlights.

From Channel nine's Facebook:

Channel 9

Just announced: The NRL Footy Show is moving to a new LIVE 8.30pm timeslot on Thursdays in 2013!

I can't see this lasting more than a few weeks in that slot. It may be the excuse they need to put the thing to out of it's misery.

The move to 8.30pm is only from April 2013. During March it will immediately follow the NRL match on Thursday nights, so starting times will vary in different states due to daylight saving. At least Nine had the decency of publishing a press release revealing the time change, unlike in Melbourne where it announced at the end of upfront presentations that the AFL Footy Show would move to 8.30pm Thursdays next March, which resulted in a barrage of criticisms from Sam Newman.

How much does Nine spend on new sets and GFX for this stinker each year?

Actually you will find that its another show that is using the Today Show set. Big give-away is the mass screen in the middle. Probably didn't cost that much to add some other elements to wheel in for the sides...

Good pick-up. The walls with backlighting actually remind me of the old Today Show set.

It's a shame the show doesn't air directly after the Thursday night NRL game on GEM "The Home of Rugby League".

It's annoying as the commentators make numerous references reminding viewers to stick around for The Footy Show after the game. Surely it would retain more viewers who had been watching the game than an unrelated movie.
