Lavinia Nixon: my best times
Livinia Nixon, co-host of Temptation: The New Sale Of The Century, enjoys life. Here she shares some of the fun times.
"I've always had an outdoors lifestyle. I grew up near the water and my brothers and I used to play cricket or ride our bikes. We also had a farm where we rode horses and motorbikes.
"I never really planned to get into TV. I was studying commerce/arts at uni and I used to go to auditions. Then I started to get jobs. I’ve been with the Nine Network since 1997 — I'm very loyal to them. And the loyalty has paid off. Along with co-hosting Temptation: The New Sale Of The Century, I present the weather in Melbourne."
I enjoy all kinds of sports. I guess having two brothers and being a bit of a tomboy when I was younger had something to do with that. I was never any good at athletics, but I always gave it a go. I was never the fastest, or could never jump the highest. These days, I do yoga or Tai Chi, lift weights and go walking. I have a bad back, and I find if I don't exercise, it starts to hurt.
We're a very close family. We grew up in Beaumaris in Melbourne, and we have a hobby farm in northern Victoria so, some weekends we'll go there together and relax or go fishing.
I've always admired Pat Rafter. He's a fantastic person and the way he conducts himself is very commendable. As well as working for the Starlight Foundation, I'm an ambassador for both World Vision and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
I've driven in the celebrity race at the Melbourne Grand Prix three times now — the first time I crashed into the safety wall, the second, I drove off the track and the third time I actually finished the race. It was nice to see the flag, even though it wasn't the chequered flag! I've really enjoyed being in the race. It's like being on holidays with 20 of the most fun people you can think of. I'm a bit of a revhead, so it's a good way for me to get that out of my system as well."
