Sky News headed to Freeview?
Jun 14
According to the Financial Review, Sky News is in negotiation with the Freeview consortium to be carried on the free-to-air service.
Mumbrella quotes the paper’s Prince column, which said that the talks were part of the “desperate search for some half-decent content to put on the multichannels”.
It is unclear which network’s broadcast spectrum the channel will be carried on. Sky News Australia’s parent company, Australian News Channel is a joint venture split between the Seven Network, PBL Media (parent company of the Nine Network) and BSkyB, owner of the channel’s UK counterpart.
Seven and Nine are both believed to be working on plans for their own multichannels to be revealed later in the year.
