All over for Austext but subtitles safe

The long running Austext service will end on September 30th.

The Seven Network run service providing news and other information began with test services in 1970, before providing a full service from started providing test Teletext services in 1977, with live services from 1982 in
Brisbane and Sydney.

Seven has blamed the shutdown on old equipment which has been in use since the service's inception in the 1970's as well as increased use of other instantaneous news services, like its own Yahoo7 website.

Closed captioning services will continue to be provided.
