2GB adds new shows to schedule

Sydney’s top-rating radio station, the Macquarie Radio Network‘s 2GB has announced a raft of new shows to be added to its schedule.

The station has also announced its intentions to syndicate more of its programs to a wider national audience.

Up to ten new off-peak and weekend programs, covering various topics including business, finance, health, home renovating, sport, fishing and real estate, are to be launched in the coming months – accounting for around forty hours a week of programming – to further consolidate the station’s baby boomer following.

Some new names join the station in the revamp – including Deborah Thomas of The Australian Women’s Weekly, Simon Stevenson, Mark Braybrook and John Paul Young.

Media blog Mumbrella has listed the new programs to be added to the schedule over the coming months:

Money News with Ross Greenwood Mon- Fri 6pm – 7pm
Sunday Business with Ross Greenwood Sunday 11am – noon
Wake-up Sydney with Andrew Moore Mon-Fri 3.30am – 5am
The Talk Today with Alan Jones and Ray Hadley Mon-Fri 8pm – 9pm
Health & Wellbeing Program with Deborah Thomas and Luke Bona Sunday 9am – 11am
Money News – Small Business with Ross Greenwood Mon-Fri 7pm – 8pm
Real Estate Program with Luke Bona and Mark Moraza Sat 11am – midday
Home Improvement Program with Simon Stevenson and Luke Bona Sat 9am – 11am
Weekend Detention – Summer Edition with Darryl Brohman, Steve “Blocker” Roach, Andrew Moore and Mark Braybrook Sat 12md-5pm & Sun 12md-6pm
Fishing Show with John Paul Young Sat 5pm – 7pm

Mumbrella also reports that a new media discussion program, Media Matters, will be added to the lineup at a date to be announced.

Macquarie Radio Network program director Ian Holland also hopes to have many of the station’s new programs syndicated to interstate stations by the end of the year, with Melbourne and Brisbane the initial targets.
