Bligh in MasterChef not a master move: poll

Sep 06

Support amongst Queensland premier Anna Bligh’s constituents for her participation in Ten’s upcoming Celebrity MasterChef is low, a new poll shows.

The Sunday Mail reports that just one in four Queenslanders support Bligh appearing on the TV cook-off at a time when her political support is also low.

The Galaxy poll showed women were more in favour than men.

“Clearly, men don’t think the place for the premier of the state is in the kitchen,” said Galaxy Research principal David Briggs.

Bligh will take two days annual leave from being Premier to film her heat’s segments in Sydney this week. She has previously said she will try to promote Queensland produce on the show.

The poll, conducted on Friday of 415 voters, found 31% did not approve of Bligh’s involvement, while 42% were undecided.

Meanwhile, the Sunday Telegraph reports that other contestants include Sydney Swans star Ryan O’Keefe, singer Alex Lloyd and actor Steve Bisley.
