Michala Banas confirms role on new drama
Actress Michala Banas has confirmed she will star in the Seven Network’s new Australian drama series, Winners And Losers, which is due to go into production.
Banas confirmed on her Twitter account that she will be playing a malicious character in the female-centric Channel Seven drama.
“I'm playing a nasty b***h for several episodes of a new channel 7 show. FUN!!! Just off to practice my mean face.....”, Banas wrote on her twitter account last week.
The 42 minute pilot underwent an online screening test earlier this year, and was said to focus on four female school friends who attend their ten-year high school reunion. Known as the “losers” during their high school years, the girls seek revenge by embarrassing their tormentor, Banas’ character.
Likened to Sex and the City, the Melbourne based series has been described as an out-there, female skewing drama. Unlike Seven’s PG rated family friendly drama, Packed to the Rafters, Winners And Losers is said to be more risqué with sex and drug taking dominant themes in the pilot.
The pilot also featured former All Saints actress, Virginia Gay, who portrays a successful business woman in the series. Other notable additions include reality star-turned actor Blair McDonough (Neighbours), actress Melanie Vallejo (Packed to the Rafters), and model-turned actor Scott McGregor.
The Seven Network is yet to formally announce it has picked up the pilot to series; however it has been reported that Winners And Losers will go into production for a 22 episode season, with filming set to commence this week in Melbourne.
