SBS has announced that two of its award-winning video journalists, Yalda Hakim and Mark Davis, will host Dateline from next year.

The pair will replace George Negus, who will leave the broadcaster to join the Ten Network after the end of Dateline's current season. The Australian reports that they will share hosting duties, allowing them to continue reporting for the current affairs programme throughout the year.

"While I'm obviously sad to see George leave, I'm extremely excited by Dateline's new presenting team," said Peter Charley, Dateline's executive producer.

"Yalda and Mark represent the cutting edge of video journalism, the core of Dateline's unique approach to story-telling."

Hakim filed her first report for Dateline in 2008. She recently filed a series of reports from India for Dateline and World News Australia in the lead-up to the Commonwealth Games.

Davis, a distinguished journalist and a former lawyer and filmmaker, was the host of Dateline in 2003 and 2004. His work as a video journalist has netted him a swag of awards, including the Gold Walkley in 2000 and four other Walkley awards.
